When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came onstage on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC, he was greeted to chants of “Hercules! Hercules!” That is because, of course, he is starring as Hercules in an upcoming movie of the same name. On Fallon’s show, he was all fun and games, doing three hilarious skits with the host about two brothers, the Fungo brothers, Jack (Jimmy Fallon) and Chad (Dwayne Johnson).
After Tonight Show host Fallon showed a cool clip from Hercules, he asked a “computer” to show everyone a skit about The Fungo Brothers. Originally, they were going to be called “The Pomanti Brothers,” but presumably someone thought that “Fungo” was a funnier name. Both names are pretty funny, but “Fungo” is probably somewhat more humorous-sounding.
In the first skit, Dwayne Johnson and Jimmy Fallon worked out together, as if they were in a fitness video involving the exercise gadgets Suzanne Somers used to promote on TV, Thigh Masters. The Fungo Brothers called them Thigh Crunchers, though. Fallon quickly tired, though Dwayne Johnson kept on going, to the delight of the women in the audience.
The second skit, done in black-and-white, was supposed to be one of The Fungo Brothers in one of their first exercise videos back in the 1950s. They exercised to a song about a new dance craze sung to the tune of Chubby Checker’s popular dance craze, The Twist, called The Squat Thrust, performing, of course, squat thrusts as the so-called “dance moves.”
Then, in a third skit, The Fungo Brothers did an exercise video with something they called a “Jack Weight.” It looked suspiciously like a Shake Weight, because…that is what is was, but renamed. They made somewhat crude and inappropriate, though funny, jokes about the exercise device, holding them in suggestive ways, as well. Watch the three videos below!
“This is not a workout,” Jimmy Fallon said in the “Jack Weight” video.
“It’s a revolution,” Dwayne Johnson agreed.
“You’ve got to hustle to get the muscle,” they both declared at the conclusion of the spoof fitness videos.
Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson proved to be a good sport and he seemed to really get into doing the skits with Fallon. Though the former WWE wrestler is perhaps better known for his thrilling action movies as opposed to his comedies, he has appeared in a few comedies showcasing his comedic talents, such as Get Smart, The Game Plan, The Other Guys and Tooth Fairy.
Dwayne Johnson and host of The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon, created hilarious videos of The Fungo Brothers that will likely go viral, like many of the videos Fallon has done with celebrity guests in the past. The games Jimmy Fallon plays with many of his guests and the skits he does with others are big reasons why The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC consistently gets high ratings and beats its competition.
