According to the Los Angeles Times, five people have been arrested in connection with the deadly assault of USC student, Xinrin Ji, 24, who died last week as a result of the injuries sustained in the assault. Ji had been hit over the head with what authorities described as a “blunt object’ and his death came as a great shock to all of the students, but especially the Chinese students at USC. Ji was the third Chinese student to be killed near the campus in the last three years. Despite his injuries, Ji managed to make it home to his apartment where he was later found dead. A trail of blood led authorities to him.
A security camera may have been key to today’s arrests of five people on both the suspicion of homicide and robbery. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that three of the suspects are juveniles and two are adults. LAPD has scheduled a press conference for 4:30 Pacific Standard Time.
