Jessica Simpson, famous singer and model, is newlywed once again after her marriage to former NFL player Eric Johnson took place on Saturday. The couple has been engaged for four years and they finally decided to tie the knot at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California.

A total of 250 guests attended the festivities, including the couple’s two children. During the celebration, the attendees sampled cocktails in the San Ysidro garden before being escorted to a private location for an intimate three-course meal. There was live music playing throughout the night for everyone to enjoy.

The couple first started dating in May 2010 after being introduced through friends, and they announced their engagement in November of the same year. This is the second marriage for both Simpson and Johnson. Their wedding was initially meant to be sooner, but had to be postponed twice for the arrival of each of their children. “We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment,” Simpson and Johnson said.

Also present to witness Jessica Simpson newlywed again were famous friends Jessica Alba alongside her husband Cash Warren. Alba had previously attended the baby showers for both of Simpson’s children. Simpson’s parents Tina and Joe, sister Ashlee and her fiancé Evan Ross, and best friend CaCee Cobb with her husband Donald Faison additionally took part in the night’s activities.

Jessica Simpson wore a gown custom designed by Venezuelan-American fashion mogul Carolina Herrera for the outdoor ceremony. The couple’s children played an integral role in the ceremony itself. Simpson’s son Ace, only one-year-old, was the ring bearer. Maxwell, her two-year-old daughter, was a flower girl. Ashlee Simpson’s five-year-old son Bronx escorted Maxwell down the aisle.

The entire ceremony was themed around the Fourth of July holiday. The attending guests dined on an assortment of delicacies including beef brisket, fried chicken, grilled shrimp, baby back ribs, veggie burgers, corn on the cobb and mac and cheese. For dessert, the hosts catered to everyone’s sweet tooth and offered peach pie with ice cream, watermelon and wine for refreshment. Later in the evening, the guests participated in karaoke sessions with the assistance of the DJ. There were also a variety of games present including cornhole, bocce ball, croquet, jenga and horseshoes.

Simpson’s first marriage to Nick Lachey, the former 98 Degrees frontman, formed the basis for the reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. The show attempted to appeal to a mass audience by exploiting the “dumb blonde” stereotype. The show premiered on MTV and lasted three seasons. Simpson’s and Lachey’s marriage ended soon afterward.

Simpson and Johnson began dating while Johnson was still married to his ex-wife, stylist Keri D’Angelo. It was perhaps not the best starting position for Simpson, who already had a history of unfortunate relationship hurdles with her exes Lachey, John Mayer and Tony Romo. However, in July 2010, Johnson withdrew from his two-year business program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in order to stay closer to Simpson, who lived in Los Angeles. Four months later, the couple was engaged. Jessica Simpson is a newlywed again and congratulations are in order for both her and her husband! May they have many happy years together!
