New York Police Arrest Man in Florida in Connection With Death of Young Mother

New York State Police and United States Marshals arrested Dante Taylor, age 19, in Florida in connection with the death of a young mother from Long Island. They have accused him in the alleged killing of  Sarah Goode, who vanished in June. Taylor is looking at a second-degree charge of murder in her death. Suffolk County Police stated on Saturday, that her body was discovered dumped in a forest area on Long Island nearly a week after she came up missing.

Taylor was first picked up on an unrelated arrest warrant on Thursday and then he was given the murder charge and transported back to Suffolk County in New York. He was scheduled to be in court on Saturday morning in Long Island. However at the present time, it was not immediately clear how detectives supposedly tied Taylor to Goode’s killing. It also was not known if Taylor had obtained the services of an attorney and there was no information found about a working telephone number for his home.

Goode’s body was discovered on June 12 in a wooded area about one mile from where police say they found her abandoned BMW. The young mother had been seen last on June 6 and was reported as missing the next day. New York State Police, along with her friends and family, launched an enormous search for Goode, which lasted for days.

New York State Police have not presently revealed whether Taylor and Goode knew one another or what detectives think happened between the two individuals. A friend of Goode’s supposedly said that the two had once been romantically involved.

Goode was employed as a medical technician and had a daughter who was age 4. She lived in the suburb of Medford on Long Island and ended up disappearing after a night of watching movies on television with several close friends. Goode’s older sister called the authorities the next day, informing them that the close-knit family had not been in touch with Goode and that was unlike her sister not to talk to the family. It was around an hour later that police discovered the young mother’s 1999 gray BMW parked near a forested area around Medford but the automobile did not show any signs of violence or a crash. After discovering the car, the search began. However in the end, sadly Goode’s remains were discovered inside the woods close to her vehicle. She was found by a large search party of 40 to 50 volunteers.

There has been a memorial fund set up to help Goode’s young daughter. So far it has raised over $37,000 and the money will go to aid the child and also help pay for Goode’s funeral expenses. Goode’s sister stated that it was amazing how people come together in times of tragedy. She stated that it brought her family comfort that they were able to find hope in so many good hearted people. Because that is how Sarah was as well.

New York State Police have not yet released what Goode’s official cause of death was. They and United States Marshals arrested Dante Taylor, age 19, in Florida in connection with her murder on Thursday.
