Today marks the last day of the latest Grand Theft Auto event, Independence Day. Starting on July 3 and going through July 6, this event gives GTA Online players double RP and double GTA$ when playing new jobs in the Independence Day Event Playlist. A number of other nice bonuses are included in this free package, thank you Rockstar Games.
If you spent the 4th of July out with family and friends shooting off fireworks and celebrating your nation, you still have time to savor the GTA Online Independence Day Event. All pegasus deliveries are free, airstrikes are 75% off and heavy ammo is 25% off. When the weekend is over, so is the event.
There is still time to enter the Snapmatic Contest as well. Take a picture of your most creative and glorious moments that represent your patriotic side. Using the hashtag #IndependenceDay on Snapmatic enters you automatically. If you are one of the five winners picked by Rockstar Games, you will win GTA$1M and a licence plate that says AMERICA.
If you are the gamer that would rather win the kind of merch you can actually handle, Rockstar Games has a giveaway for you too. The Independence Day Gear Giveaway Sweepstakes can still be entered until the end of Sunday. Five lucky winners will receive a number of prizes representing multiple Grand Theft Auto Games. Included in this prize package is a beer cup, beach ball, baseball bat and more. Ten runners-up win stickers and a GTA V tee. To enter the Rockstar Games social club or look for the link at the bottom of the article.
On Thursday Rockstar Games streamed a very special event they called “America versus Great Britain – The Rematch.” In this match, the Rockstar New York City Developers were joined by special guest Lui Calibre to represent America. Great Britain was represented by GTA V 0’Clock crew playing from London. The event was commentated by The Rockstar Broadcast studio crew and Lazlow. The two teams battled it out through a Crew head-to-head playlist comprised of the new Independence Day jobs. Check out the hour and a half epic below.
Keep in mind, this Independence Day Event is also update 1.15. If you are experiencing problems that need to be patched, this update will have to hold you over for a little while. Rockstar Games is always open to hear what needs to be fixed but update 1.16 likely won’t arrive for a while. There is still no official word if Heists will be coming in update 1.16.
The GTA Independence Day Event will still be going strong through the night. It is awfully refreshing to see a game studio not only create free holiday content, but join in on the fun too, this connection between developer and fan solidifies the connection and love that both parties have for the series. Rockstar Games has done an excellent job this time, what will they do next?
