Scandal Star Arrested for Public Intoxication

Scandal star, Columbus Short was arrested for public intoxication in Dallas on the Fourth of July. The actor was at a Katy Trail Icehouse bar and restaurant celebrating the holiday when he was arrested by local police.

The former Scandal Star apparently was arguing with a staff member over his bar tab when off duty police officers intervened. The incident would not be a first for Short. The star was arrested earlier in 2014 for a bar brawl in a Los Angeles establishment. Short has also been held by police on previous occasions for domestic altercations with his estranged wife who now has a restraining order against him.

In March, Short knocked a man unconscious in front of Gabe’s Bar and Grill in Rancho Park in Los Angeles. The victim was left unconscious in front of the restaurant and suffered a fractured eye socket. The man apparently insulted Short’s wife starting an altercation. During another incident in 2010, the actor was put on three years probation after getting into an altercation with a man at a fitness center.

At the beginning of 2014, Columbus Short was accused beating his wife Tanee McCall at his home on February 18. McCall got a protective order against Columbus forcing him out of their home. At his court appearance, Short pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor spousal battery.

According to the restraining order, the couple was at their Chatsworth home on April 7, where Tanee McCall claims Columbus Short approached her while intoxicated and threatened to hit McCall with a wine bottle. He then poured the contents of the bottle on her. McCall claims Columbus retrieved a knife from the kitchen, and allegedly pinned her down and choked her on the couch. McCall claimed he told her they were going to play a game of “Truth or Truth”, and if she lied he was going to stab her in her legs. McCall claims he began naming men with which he believed she was having an affair. He then held a knife to her throat and threatened to murder her then kill himself.

Columbus Short announced at the end of season three of his ABC hit series Scandal. That he would not be returning to the show. In the final episode, viewers were left questioning if Short’s character Harrison Wright was killed off or not. The announcement confirmed his character’s fate for next season. Short released a statement upon the news of his departure from the show, and stated he was confirming his exit from the show that he called home for three years. He thanked the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes for her support and also thanked ABC. He stated that the cast had become a second family to him and was forever grateful.

The former Scandal star has a long list of legal issues on his plate, and public intoxication may be the least of Short’s problems at this time. With his domestic disputes, assault charges, and restraining order the actor will need much time off to take care of not only his legal problems, but any other personal issues that may be contributing to his recent behavior.
