Grammy winner and soul singer Alicia Keys has announced that she is pregnant with baby number two on her Instagram page. Keys, along with her husband Kasseem Dean (known to the media as Swizz Beatz), celebrated their four-year anniversary along with the news of another bundle of joy that will be arriving soon.
Keys gleefully mentioned on the social site, “Happy Anniversary to the love of my life @therealswizzz! And to make it even sweeter we’ve been blessed with another angel on the way!”
The singer posted a photo of herself on Instagram, smiling and holding her baby bump as she stood next to Beatz, who also had his arm around her growing belly. The couple looked incredibly blissful and deeply in love. Beatz also shared a similar picture in which he is kissing Keys’ shoulder. When Keys announced she was pregnant with baby number two, it was evident that the pair were both extremely happy about expanding their family. The two already have a 3-year-old son named Egypt Daoud Dean, whom they welcomed in October of 2010. Beatz has a daughter and two sons from previous relationships.
Keys first hit stardom after her debut single, Fallin’, attained global success and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition, Keys won five Grammy Awards in 2002, including Best R&B Album, Best R&B Song, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Her first album, Songs in A Minor, went platinum five times after its release in 2001.
The singer’s second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, also reached No. 1 on Billboard 200 and sold more than 618,000 copies during the first week of its release. The record became the most-sold album for a female artist in 2003. Keys was rewarded for her fabulous songwriting abilities by taking home four more Grammys for the album in 2004. One of the Grammys, Best R&B Performance by a Group or Duo, featured her duet with Usher on the hit single, My Boo.
The Girl on Fire songstress continued to shine with her album As I Am, which dropped in 2007. The record debuted at number one, and sold over 740,000 copies in its first week. The album earned her two more Grammy awards that year. Keys also began collaborating with more artists, such as Jack White in the tune Another Way to Die, which was featured as the theme song for the James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. In addition, she recorded Empire State of Mind with rapper Jay-Z, and the hit single became a tribute song to all New Yorkers. Empire State of Mind was incredibly successful worldwide, winning two Grammys for Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
In 2009, Keys launched her fourth album, titled The Element of Freedom. Although the record did not fare as well as her previous efforts in the U.S., it was her first album to reach number one in the United Kingdom. Keys’ most recent album, Girl on Fire, was released in 2012 and put the singer back on top at No. 1. She obtained a Grammy for Best R&B Album in 2014 for her brilliant efforts.
After 13 years of writing, performing and touring as well as developing her incredibly successful career, it is quite easy to understand why Keys wants to enjoy some time off to raise a family. Although a due date has yet to be publicized, it is exciting, to say the least, that Keys has announced she is pregnant with baby number two. Her fans and supporters wish nothing but the best for the joyful couple.
