Jimmy Fallon Plays Karate Pinata With Will Arnett

Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon will interview and clown around with guests Will Arnett and rapper T.I. on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and he will play a new game with Will Arnett, Karate Pinata. Later in the show, T.I. will perform with the Tonight Show‘s excellent house band, The Roots.

Jimmy Fallon opened the Tonight Show with his monologue. “Some good news for Edward Snowden — he can stay in Russia for three more years. ‘Old news, bro,’ Snowden said.”

He then said that “Kanye West referred to himself as ‘the smartest celebrity.’ He and Kim Kardashian are buying a $20 million mansion. The front yard is average, but the back yard is huge. It is five minutes away from Kim’s mother’s house. So much for Kanye being the ‘smartest celebrity.'”

Another joke Jimmy Fallon said was “Yesterday, an elderly man walked around Times Square without his clothes on, campaigning for the right to be nude. I thought the Ball Drop wasn’t until January 1st.”

He said “MTV is celebrating its birthday. It’s 30 years old. You can tell it’s getting old, because it’s starting to watch VH1.”

One of Fallon’s last jokes was “People in Seattle are looking for a man who stole $15,000 of medical marijuana. The owner said ‘Wait — did I smoke it? It was here a minute ago.'”

Jimmy Fallon said that actor Jeff Bridges will be on tomorrow, and a segment called “Thank You Notes.” Tonight, Will Arnett will be promoting his latest flick, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Actress Megan Fox, who co-stars with him in the movie featuring the “heroes on the half-shell,” was on the Tonight Show last night.

Fallon said “We have the fever here in New York — eating pizza, throwing Frisbees, playing with nunchuks. I’m going to challenge Will Arnett to a new game, ‘Karate Pinata.'”

T.I will be talking about his latest album, About the Money. He will also sing a medley of songs from it. the “dessert,” of the show, as Fallon put it.

Then, he did a Hashtag bit he does every Thursday. On Wednesday, Fallon started the hashtag “My Weird Secret.” He said “Within a half-hour, it was a world-wide trending topic.”

Some of the examples Jimmy Fallon read were “When I’m in the shower and a sad song comes on, I pretend I’m breaking up with someone in the rain,” and “Sometimes when I’m cooking, I talk out loud and pretend I’m on a fake cooking show.”

Another person who wrote “I sometimes put song lyrics in Ziploc bags so I can sing along properly in the shower,” while someone else tweeted “When I don’t like someone, I make an avatar of them on SIMS and make them live a hard life.”

One of the last tweets he read was “I had a dead battery collection when I was young. Sometimes, I’d just spread them out on my bed in my room and look at them.”

Jimmy Fallon introduced comedian and actor Will Arnett after a commercial break. He brought Jimmy “a nice rosette” to drink. Fallon said “Thanks, but I don’t have a corkscrew.”

Arnett said, as Jimmy Fallon put the bottle behind his desk: “Full disclosure — I found it.”

When Fallon asked him if it was true that Arrested Development was coming back for another season, on Netflix, Arnett said “yes,” to the cheers and applause of the audience. Arnett plays the incredibly funny GOB Bluth on the series.

Fallon asked how his two kids are doing. Arnett said “Fine,” then he talked about having had a lot of fun vacationing in Europe. Fallon acted as if he was about to show a clip from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but instead, he showed an old Manwich commercial.

Jimmy Fallon said that he has seen the movie and that he loved it. Higgins was not around, having temporarily stepped away. Arnett said “Higgins is in line, too.” He added that he plays a camera man for Megan Fox, who is April O’Neil. He said, jokingly, that “the movie is basically me, beating up 30 ninjas.”

Then, Fallon showed an actual clip from the movie, of Arnett and Megan in an 18-wheeler, careening off an icy road with snow all around. April leans out of the truck’s window as Arnett drives, trying to take photos. They are saved, of course, by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

When The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon came back from another commercial break, Jimmy and Will Arnett played “a game that combined the skill of karate with the fun of a pinata party,” in Jimmy’s words.

When Fallon described the game to Will and asked what he thuoght, Arnett said: “I think it’s the most dangerous game I’ve ever heard of — challenge accepted.” They will stand blindfolded in the Fiesta Ring. “Only clean kicks will count,” Jimmy said. Four pinatas spun around and Arnett had 20 seconds to try to break as many pinatas as he could.

“Be cool, man! Be cool! Chill out, man!” Fallon told him when the 20 seconds were up.

“Higgins, how many pinatas did Will Arnett break?” Fallon asked Higgins.

“ONE!” the announcer yelled.

Then, it was Jimmy Fallon’s turn, with a fresh 20 seconds on the clock. Fallon looked kind of spastic and mostly kicked the air, like Arnett had done. After the time was up, he took the blindfold off and kicked the remaining ones to smithereens.

Looking at the playback, Fallon sees that he broke two of the pinatas compared to the one Arnett had managed to break, so he won the game. He again reminded the audience that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles begins this Friday and it will be in 3D and will be rated PG-13.

The Tonight Show returned after another commercial break, with Jimmy Fallon interviewing rapper, T.I. Fallon said that T.I. stars with Tiny in a hit show on TV.

Jimmy Fallon re-gifted the wine to T.I. “You can open that anywhere you want, even in a parking lot,” Fallon said.

“I don’t know; it looks like old Ripple,” T.I. said.

T.I. says that his 13-year-old son did the sound track for a new video game and also narrated it. Will Arnett came out onto the stage, acting ticked off that Fallon had re-gifted the wine.

“It looks like now, that you two have a beef,” Arnett said, holding the wine, having taken it back. “You know what — it’s yours, now,” Arnett said, handing the bottle to T.I.

Paperwork will be T.I.’s upcoming album, but the one out now is About the Money. He said that one of the people on the album is Iggy Azalea. He tells Fallon that he “is now employed by Iggy.” T.I. says he discovered Iggy by listening to her sing on the Internet. After more commercials, T.I. will do a medley of his hits with The Roots.

T.I. had Young Thug with him, also singing. T.I. was great; he raps very rapidly, at a machine gun pace. According to Jimmy Fallon, his next album, Paperwork, is produced by Pharrell Williams. T.I. and Young Thug looked, at times, like they were going head-to-head, seeing who could rap the fastest. They gave a fantastic performance.

“That’s the way to do it, right there!” Jimmy Fallon said, when they had finished. He shook hands with both Young Thug and T.I. at the end of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The performance by T.I and Young Thug was a cool way to conclude the Tonight Show. Jimmy Fallon interviewed Will Arnett, one of the funniest guys around, who is hilarious in Arrested Development. He was promoting his latest movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which looks like it will be a major hit, despite some preliminary estimates that it will only earn $40 million its opening weekend.
