Justin Bieber has reached a plea deal in Florida DUI charge and will not be required to serve any jail time. The pop singer will plead guilty to lesser charges over his South Florida arrest in what was initially described as an illegal street race. Reportedly, the 20-year-old singer would plead guilty to misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest without violence and careless driving. In addition to paying court-ordered fees, Bieber will agree to make a $50,000 charitable donation, take an anger management course and view online videos of stories of real-life DUI cases with tragic ends.
In January Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach after he and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff were accused of drag racing. Bieber was driving a rented Lamborghini and Sharieff was behind the wheel of a Ferrari when they were cited. Neither of the musicians was charged with illegal street racing and reportedly there was little evidence that the two had even exceeded posted speed limits.
At the time of the arrest Bieber was charged with driving with an expired license and resisting arrest after he went on a profanity laced rant against the officers. Alcohol breath tests found the singer’s level well below the 0.02 limit, which is the limit for underage drivers, and in police videos he did not appear intoxicated. His urine tests revealed the presence of Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug, and marijuana in the troubled star’s system.
With all the trouble the singer has found himself in many have questioned what his mentor has to say about it. Usher, just like Bieber, was signed as a teen to the entertainment industry and was forced to grow up in the spotlight. Usher said he has tried to help the troubled teen idol navigate through it all.
I gave every bit of advice and always told him it was up to him if he really wanted this. Now that he has it, as an adult, it’s his to manage.
The Canadian singer’s mentor said he is not ashamed of the actions of Bieber because he understands that it is all a part of life’s process and he is in it with him. Usher added, “as a youngster in the music business somebody took the time to help me and develop me into the artist and entertainer I am today.” This, said the Grammy-Award winning entertainer, is what he intends to do with Bieber.
Bieber has experienced a string of troubles from assault and DUI arrests to accusations of attempted robbery and vandalism. It may seem that Usher has been unsuccessful in keeping the young heart-throb out of trouble but he has helped guide the pop star to record sales which exceed 12 million. Usher said he hates some of the things he hears and it is unfortunate but success comes with a price.
Every person that has grown up grows up with something. It ain’t perfect from the beginning.
The multi-award winning star is in the midst of three concurrent legal battles. In the Florida DUI case Justin Bieber has reached a plea deal and will not be required to serve any jail time. The pop singer pleaded guilty to lesser charges over his South Florida arrest in what was initially described as an illegal street race. The young star has successfully avoided jail again.
