Former rap entrepreneur Marion “Suge” Knight was one of three individuals shot inside the 1 Oak Night Club located on Sunset Boulevard in Western Hollywood at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, stated Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Jeff Gordon. Each of the three victims, Knight, another man and a woman, are expected to pull through from their injuries, Deputy Gordon told the media. The shooting occurred inside the nightclub and it is located on Sunset Boulevard which is in West Hollywood around 1:30 a.m. added the deputy.
The founder of Death Row Records was reportedly shot at least six times and was hit in the stomach and arm. He was rushed to Cedars Sinai Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. The two other victims were also taken to the hospital and it was reported that one individual was said to be listed in critical condition.
Several eyewitnesses stated that they thought Chris Brown, who was host of the pre-party before MTV’s VMA’s awards, was believed to have been the actual target of the shooting. It is believed that Brown, age 25, was unhurt in the event. Police hunted the location for evidence and roped of various streets located around the nightclub, which was emptied of everyone inside. There were numerous partyers who were detained due to questioning needs, and police ended up catching the alleged gunmen.
It was at about 5.45am that Brown tweeted about the happening. He stated that it was disappointing that our society could not enjoy each other or have fun without there being altercations. Brown is still on probation for beating up then-girlfriend and singer Rihanna the night before the 2009 Grammys.
As for Knight, it was back in 2005 that he was shot in his leg during a firing at a pre-party for the VMA’s that was hosted by Kanye West.
A rough video taken from a cell phone was put up on Instagram and reported showed Brown standing on the back of a couch and screaming in the aftershock of the shooting. One of Brown’s bodyguards is seen attempting trying to get him down to the floor. Brown apparently has dyed his hair blond and was wearing jeans and a white shirt.
Knight, age 49, went to fortune and fame after he founded Death Row Records back in 1991. He signed on rap artists such as Tupac Shakur and Snoop Doggy Dogg. Knight was the person driving the car of which Tupac was a passenger when Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas back in 1996. The Black Kapital Records top executive has long had to dodge rumors that he was somehow involved in the West Coast rapper’s death.
It was not long after that that Knight spent numerous years in prison for violating his parole and several weapons convictions. His time in prison, along with Tupac’s death, disputes between Knight and several different rappers, along with desertions by Snoop, Dr. Dre and several others all added to the label going bankrupt back in 2006.
