On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC, the guests were the amazing Taylor Swift and Andrew Rannells. Taylor Swift was in an EW! skit with Jimmy Fallon that was LOL funny. The musical guest was Ryan Anderson and The Shining. Fallon will be talking with Taylor Swift about the new movie coming out this Friday that she stars in, along with Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep and Katie Holmes, The Giver. The Roots, one of the best house bands ever, were great, as usual.
After the monologue, Jimmy Fallon said that “Tomorrow, from The Expendables 3, Sylvester Stallone will be here!”
Then, Fallon introduced Taylor Swift, who he said will be in The Giver, opening on Friday. Andrew Rannells, of “The Book of Mormon” and Girls (HBO), will also be on the show.
“Happy birthday, Steve Higgins,” Fallon said to the announcer.
There was an Ew! skit next. Jimmy Fallon dresses up like a teenage girl. Natalie Benson is on the show –actually Taylor Swift, of course. She is nerdified to the max, complete with “tri-tails,” which is what Swift calls her odd hairstyle.
“My favorite show is Pretty Little Liars,” Fallon says.
Taylor replied “My mom hasn’t let me watch TV since Miley Cyrus twerked.”
“This is a drawing I made of a Pegacorn. A Pegasus and unicorn in one,” Taylor says. It is awesome, drawn with crayons and — of course — lots of glitter. The skit was incredibly funny, but difficult to describe well. Check out the video below to see it!
After the skit, Fallon says “We’ll be right back with Taylor Swift!” Then, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon went to a commercial break.
“My first guest is Taylor Swift. This Friday you can see her in The Giver, also starring Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep.”
“I only met Natalie, the girl on Teen Nick who looks a lot like you,” Fallon says. “You sent a list of things that you like to do like you have a band-aid collection,” he says.
Taylor Swift has a scar on her knee. She says she actually made castles out of Popsicle sticks and got burned with a hot glue gun. “I was creating a slide, and a big glob of hot glue fell on my leg. I tried to pull off the hot glue and about 17 layers of skin also came off.”
“I don’t know why I got into this so much, but I love the EW! sketch. I wanted to tap into a different sort of friend that Sarah might have, someone from out of town,” she says.
“I heard a rumor about you, that Taylor Swift will be performing at the VMAs. Is that true?” Fallon asked.
“We had such a bonding experience that I will tell you that I am going to perform at the VMAs,” she answered him.
“Yahoo Live Stream, you’re doing this Monday August 18. What does that mean?”
“Theoretically, you’d go on Yahoo and push play, and it would be streaming live,” Taylor says.
“You mean if you have a new album coming out?” Fallon asks.
Taylor does not answer for a while and says “I’m sorry; I couldn’t hear you–you were being too silent.”
“There could be one announcement, or there could be multiple announcements,” Taylor says.
Jimmy Fallon say that he had to read the book The Giver in high school. He called it “A tricky book.” Taylor says she thinks it is great “to have a movie that makes us think.” She added that it was fantastic to “work alongside Jeff Bridges.”
She said that she jammed out on the guitar with him. “I remember playing Apologize by OneRepublic and American Girl by Tom Petty.” Then, Fallon showed a video clip from The Giver. It looks like it will be a fantastic movie.
Jimmy Fallon’s second guest was Andrew Rannells, from Girls and the play “The Book of Mormon.” He will be in the Broadway play “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” which he said was “very different from ‘The Book of Mormon.'”
“You want to tell everyone what the play is about?” Jimmy asks him.
“It’s about an Eastern European transgender rock star who has the chance to perform on Broadway,” he says. It is a Tony Award-winning musical, one which Neil Patrick Harris starred in previously to Andrew Rannells.
Jimmy pushes him to tell him what the “angry inch” refers to. Rannells basically says “It’s about a failed sex change operation.” A certain cut does not go exactly as planned.
Back from a commercial break, Jimmy Fallon welcomed Ryan Adams and The Shining, performing Give Me Something Good. They rocked out! The audience really got into the song. Fallon said afterwards “That’s the way to do it!”
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon had some pretty great guests on tonight. Taylor Swift is the third actor/actress from The Giver who has been on the Tonight Show, the other tow having been Jeff Bridges and Katie Holmes. The movie is a science fiction one, with some scenes shot in black-and-white. It is a flick that will likely win a lot of awards, it is that good.
It was a bit difficult to hear everything in the EW! skit, as Fallon’s character has a slight speech impediment; still, it was LOL funny. The video of the skit and one from The Giver are below, so check them out, please. It is not the video that Taylor Swift brought but it is a good one.
Andrew Rannells was entertaining and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” sounds like a very…different sort of play, but different is often cool. Then, Ryan Adams and The Shining rocked the place out! Except for Taylor Swift, the guests might not have been as famous as some of the other guests Jimmy Fallon has been on; but, it was still an excellent Wednesday episode.
