Tonight Show: Jimmy Fallon Awesome in House of Cue Cards [Videos]
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tonight, the guests will be actor Mickey Rourke an actor and comedian Rob Riggle (Let’s Be Cops). Jimmy will be showing a video, House of Cue Cards. He has often mentioned that House of Cards is one of his favorite TV series, so it should be interesting to see what sort of game Fallon turns the series into. Kings of Leon will be the musical guest.
Jimmy Fallon said that Kim Kardashian had a briefcase full of $4,000 stolen from her. He wondered why Kim Kardashian was carrying around a briefcase instead of a purse. “Did someone kidnap Bruce Jenner?” he quipped.
After his monologue, Fallon mentioned that Kiss band member, lead guitarist Ace Frehley, would be sitting in with the house band The Roots. Then, he emotionally spoke about the passing of Robin Williams, doing a great impersonation of him. He said “His brain was always thinking ten steps ahead of everyone else,” and he called him “the Muhammad Ali of comedy.”
Back from a commercial break, Jimmy Fallon then talked about being a huge fan of House of Cards. He said his office was a lot like House of Cards. He showed a digital original, which he called House of Cue Cards. Jimmy was AWESOME in the video, doing a spot-on impersonation of Kevin Spacey! It was a great parody of the hit series! Check it out below! There is also a special guest appearance at the end of it!
Mickey Rourke was Jimmy Fallon’s first guest. He said that he “just got a long flight from Russia. they called me about 20 minutes ago.”
“Jessica Alba was going to be on, but she got food poisoning,” Jimmy Fallon said. “You just came from Russia and there was a lot of flack. You were wearing a Vladimir Putin T-shirt.”
“Absolutely,” Mickey said. He saw a big crowd of people around a vendor who was selling the T-shirts. Putin promoted the T-shirts to raise money to pay for a spinal cord operation for a boy in a hospital. Mickey thinks that Putin’s campaign to raise money for people suffering from spinal cord injuries is one good thing about him, even if there might not be much else good about the man.
Jimmy Fallon talked to Rourke about appearing in the sequel to Sin City by Frank Miller. Director Robert Rodriguez asked him to be in the movie, “or I wouldn’t have done it,” Mickey says. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Fallon says, “will be in 3-D in theaters August 22.” He showed a pretty cool clip from the flick.
Rob Riggle was the second guest. He has been on The Daily Show and in several movies. He is starring in Let’s Be Cops, which looks like it will be a hilarious movie. He said he got to go “to Wrigley Field” and “got to throw out the first pitch at Fenway and the Dodgers Stadium.”
“Let’s talk about the movie Let’s Be Cops. You’re playing the straight man, right?”
“Yeah, this character is very nice, heroic. I play a real cop,” he says.
After the clip, Jimmy asks Rob if he has ever taken part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. As a part of the effort to raise money for ALS, people pour ice-cold buckets of water and ice on their heads. Fallon showed a video clip of Justin Timberlake challenging Fallon, Steve Higgins and The Roots to take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Then, onstage, Rob Riggle nominated Horatio Sands to also take part. He came out to do the challenge with everyone else there.
Steve said “There’s ice in those buckets!”
“I don’t care!” Fallon said. Then, he nominated “the New York Jets” to also do the challenge. Everyone onstage, including Rob Riggle and Sands, all poured the buckets of ice water over their heads and a drenched Jimmy Fallon took the show to a commercial break.
Back from break, Jimmy Fallon introduced his musical guests, performing the song Family Tree from the latest album by Kings of Leon, Mechanical Bull. They recently were involved in a car accident. Questlove was on drums for the song. They were great! Kings of Leon is an amazing group and are well worth checking out. Taylor Swift will be on tomorrow night’s show.
Despite Jessica Alba’s not being able to make it because she is feeling sick, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was a great episode. Rob Riggle is always funny and Mickey Rourke did a terrific job filling in for Alba. Also, the videos Fallon did of House of Cue Cards were AMAZING! Check them out, below!
