In Ohio, the classmates of an autistic teenage boy have been accused of dumping a bucket containing urine, spit, cigarette butts and feces over his head as a prank in doing what he thought was the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The boy, age 15 was recorded having the bucket dumped on his head. He was attempting to do what he believed was the famous Challenge.
However what he did not realize was that his fellow classmates had filled the bucket with the disgusting items listed above. His mother stated that once it was discovered what had happened, she was horrified. She declared that she wants all the teens who were involved in the incident held accountable for what they did. The last name of the family has not been revealed in order to help aid in protection of the boy.
In the videotape, the autistic teenager is seen standing in just his underwear in the driveway of a home that was away from school grounds. The bucket is dispensed over him from a garage roof. His family explains that they want the video to be in the public eye in order to help give awareness about bullying.
The boy’s mother stated that the teen was embarrassed because he did not know what was inside the bucket until after it had been dumped on him and then he did not want anyone to know. However to add insult to injury, the teenager’s classmates ended up using his own cellphone to tape the event and then they put it up on the social medial site Instagram.
The Bay Village, Ohio police department was alerted of the alleged event on Wednesday. Police detective Kevin Krolkosky stated that criminal charges may be filed in the case. He added that it was upsetting to watch the video. It was obvious that someone had been taking advantage of.
A spokesperson for Bay High School explained that the school was working with law enforcement as they began their investigation. The teen reported felt mortified after the dirty mix of bodily fluids and cigarettes covered his body. He wanted to help raise awareness for ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease but he ended up instead inadvertently raising awareness for kids with special needs who suffer from being bullied.
The teen’s family feel that by allowing the video to continue being shown, it helps brings to light the true nature of how cruel bullying can be and that many teens experience. The boy’s mother could not comprehend how a crowd of teens were able to be so mean and vicious. The teenager’s family talked with various news media outlets in order to hopefully raise awareness about bullying. The school is working hard to try and figure out just who all was involved in the event.
His mother said that the Ice Bucket Challenge is supposed to be something that helps raise awareness for ALS but now the teens involved just made it a sick joke. She added that she could not see how kids could be so cruel. The teen’s classmates have been accused of dumping a bucket containing urine, spit, cigarette butts and feces over the boy’s head as a prank while he was attempting to do what he thought was the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
