Tonight, on Dancing with the Stars, it is the hour-long Results Show Night #2. By the end of the episode, one more celebrity will be sent home, bringing the total down to 11. But, which celebrity will it be? The one who gets the lowest total scores of the four judges sometimes gets sent home, but that is not always the case, as the votes from fans across America also figure into the overall scores of the celebrities.
A lot of excitement was packed into tonight’s episode of Dancing With the Stars, as the viewers of America voted on who would perform the Encore Dance, as well as learning which celebrity would be eliminated this week, cutting the field down to just 11. Len Goodman announced that he would not be judging the show for a few weeks, so the judge who will take his place next week for “Movie Night,” will be comedian and actor Kevin Hart.
For the Encore Dance, voters had the choice of voting for either Janel and Val or Lea and Artem. The majority of voters voted for Lea and Artem, so that couple did tonight’s Encore Dance.
Also, viewers across America voted on whose professional audition video would be shown of tonight’s Dancing With the Stars. The result was that the audition video of Mark Ballas won and was shown.
Tom Bergeron and his co-host, Erin Andrews, then announced the first results of Results Night #2. As they were one of the choices America could vote for to dance the Encore Dance, it was no surprise, really, that Lea Thompson and Artem were declared to be safe. Also, with a score from the judges of 28/40 points on Monday, Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff were safe and will move on to dance next Monday. Having shown much improvement on Monday on Dancing With the Stars, Betsey Johnson and Tony, who earned 28/40 points, were declared to be safe.
Before America would get to hear more results, Nico & Vinz performed. Karina, Val, and Peta danced and they all enthralled the audience with their performance.
As Dancing With the Stars is just an hour long tonight, Tom and Erin got down to business and announced the next celebrities who were safe. With a score of 29/40 total points from the judges, like a couple of other celebs who were declared safe tonight, Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd were safe. Way to go, Tommy! In danger of being eliminated was race car driver Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater. They had a fairly low score of 24/40 points. Celebrity Jonathan Bennett and his dance partner, Allison Holker, with a score from the judges of 30/40 points, were easily safe.
Before America got to hear more results from Tom and Erin Andrews, the Encore Dance was done on Dancing With the Stars, by the winning couple, Janel and Val. They did a marvelous and entertaining job with the dance, really getting the audience into it.
More results were then announced by the co-hosts. Last night, the four judges gave Bethany Mota and Derek Hough an overall score of 33/40 points, so they are safe and can move on to next Monday. An odd thing was, though, that Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas, according to the co-hosts of Dancing With the Stars, who received an overall score of 31/40 points, were told that they were in danger of being eliminated. Janel and Val, who danced the Encore Dance, were declared to be safe.
Then, musical guest Sia sang her hit, Chandelier. From the series Dance Moms, Maddie Ziegler danced with Allison Holker. It was a terrific performance, really pretty cool to watch.
Before more results were announced, America got to view the audition video of Mark Ballas. Also, judge Julianne Hough performed an excellent dance with the male pro dancers.
Then, yet more results were announced on Dancing With the Stars. With a combined total score of 32/40 points from the four judges on Monday, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson were declared to be safe. In danger of being eliminated, however, are Tavis Smiley and his pro dance partner, Sharna. Another couple who were declared safe tonight was Antonio Sabato Jr. and Cheryl Burke, with a total score from the judges of 31/40 points.
Finally, it was time to learn the final results on Dancing With the Stars. Sadie Robertson and her dance partner, Mark Ballas, were told that they were safe and would get to dance next week. Also, again somehow, Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater were declared to be safe.
Viewer votes combine with the scores of the judges to determine who stays and who gets sent home. The couple who had the lowest combined total tonight on Dancing With the Stars was Tavis Smiley and Sharna Burges, cutting their season short in just the second week of performances.
Dancing With the Stars fans, the hour seemed to fly by! It is always a bit controversial when a couple who has a lower score from the judges gets to move on because of the votes from fans; but, that is one of the ways in which, supposedly, the playing field has been lowered, giving celebrities with very little dancing experience a fighting chance to win against celebs who are talented dancers. Tune in to watch Dancing With the Stars next Monday!
