iOS 8 First Update for iPhone 6 Removed by Apple

iOS 8

Apple Inc. has removed the first update for iOS 8 from the new iPhone 6. The update, released earlier today, was quickly followed by a public outcry from many users who claimed that they could no longer make phone calls and had lost cellular service. Customers reported that the fingerprint reading Touch ID has also stopped working

The iOS system was created by Apple to power the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. As of September 21, nearly 50% of devices currently connected to the online App store are operating on the newest version of the software, with the remainder of the company’s products still running earlier versions.

The newest version of the software, released as the operating system for both the iPhone 6 and 6 plus, is barely a week old. The new software comes with a list of features long desired by die-hard Apple supporters, most importantly its updated notification system. It has also been improved to tie-in with Apple’s desktop OS X software and file-management software iCloud. iOS 8 has also promoted the company’s development into the health and home market with the “HealthKit” app and new developer tools.

But the removal of the first update for the iPhone 6 by Apple means that many bugs in the iOS 8 operating system remain unfixed. The update was released with the aim of tackling a number of issues, including a problem that prevented several apps from accessing photos from the iPhone library. Another glitch has caused several customers to use an unexpected amount of cellular data when receiving text messages.

In addition to dealing with these sudden problem in the iOS 8 operating system, Apple has also come under fire with questions as to whether the iPhone 6 plus is designed to bend. Customers have reported that their new larger iPhone model has bent after they sat down with the phone in their pocket. Several videos have since been posted online which show people bending the iPhone 6 in their  hands.

The brand new 6 plus is the largest iPhone Apple has ever produced and boasts a 5.5-inch display. Despite its increased surface area, the 6 plus is still only 7.1 millimeters thick, compared with 7.6 millimeters for the earlier model iPhone 5S and 8.9 millimeters for the 5C, which is much thicker due to its plastic case.

Apple has so far declined to comment on the videos of the bendable iPhone 6 plus, but has released a statement saying they have received several reports about the glitches in the iOS update. An investigation into the problems has been launched and the company promises to provide information to consumers as soon as it can.

The sudden removal of the first iOS 8 update for the iPhone 6 by Apple Inc. has tarnished the company’s spectacular sales figures since its release. Over 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 plus smartphones were reportedly sold in just three days over the weekend, all operating on the iOS 8 software, following the release of Apple’s newest and much anticipated smartphone device. The demand for the newest iPhone has created a severe backlog of orders, especially for the larger model 6 plus, with many customers in the U.S. facing a wait of up to four weeks for their product to arrive. The iPhone 6 is set to be released in another 20 countries this coming Friday.
