Scarlett Johansson gave birth last night. The 29-year-old has had a baby girl. She had not spoken out about her pregnancy throughout, letting her growing bump do all the talking for her. Nobody knew the month the baby, with fiancé Romain Dauriac, was due but many speculated it would be around August after TMZ had stated that she was five months pregnant in March.
The 29-year-old actress shocked many people with her growing bump. Just a year before the reveal of her pregnancy, she had said that children were far from her mind. Then in December she had said that she wanted a family, but never hinted that it would happen anytime soon. Considering she had a growing bump at March, she was likely pregnant at the time and trying to take the conversion in a different direction.
During the December interview, she had admitted that having a family would take some planning. Maybe that was her hint that they had already been planning for their little family.
All the news about the Avengers actress expecting a child was from gossip and “sources.” Neither parents confirmed anything, opting for the privacy. It is an exciting and apprehensive time for most first-time parents, so it makes sense that they would want to keep it all to themselves. They are not the first celebrity parents to avoid confirming their pregnancies. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher waited months before confirming they were expecting a child, despite rumors everywhere on the internet.
Now, Johansson has given birth to a baby girl. Their representatives say that they would like private at this time, which is understandable. The first few days with a newborn are the most nerve-wracking, but joyous times. It is a chance to meet their little one, and learn all the parenting skills that nobody can teach in a book.
Unlike many celebrities, the couple has decided to stick to a traditional name. The baby girl is called Rose Dorothy, likely making many happy to hear that not all celebrities have to make a statement with unusual names.
Earlier last month, there were rumors that Johansson was having a baby boy after buying blue clothes. However, The Other Boleyn Girl actress does not conform with the idea that boys wear blue and girls wear pink.
She also supports the No Kids Policy around Hollywood, which would explain her reason for never speaking about her pregnancy. This is a policy supported by other celebrities, including Kristen Bell. They simply want their children to grow up out of the public eye, and wish everyone would stop taking, selling and buying photos of their children without the parents’ consent. It is not the children’s fault that their parents are celebrities.
Now questions will arise over whether the 29-year-old can act and be a mum at the same time. It was something that she previously said she would like to find a balance for when mentioning the desire for a family. However, she had said that she would not miss acting in movies, as she had enjoyed 20 years of it.
There is time to find that balance. Right now, the couple will enjoy some private time with their new baby, after Johansson has given birth to a baby girl.
