The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik Does Not Approve of Ariana Grande

The Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik does not approve of pop princess Ariana Grande, at least in terms of how she allows herself to be portrayed in the media. The actress voiced her disdain at the singer’s image by way of a post on her self-run blog, Kveller.

In the post, the 38-year-old expressed her dislike of overly sexual celebrity advertisements in general, stating her discontent that female stars are constantly required to show off skin in order to get noticed and to be taken seriously by the public. To illustrate her point, she took aim at Grande’s latest billboard advertisement, in which she is dressed in lingerie and wearing stiletto heels. Bialik goes on to question what it is the Problem singer actually does for a living, stating that the billboard in question does nothing to promote the actual careers of females like Grande. She believes that, for all the billboard illustrates, the  21-year-old may very well showcase shoes or undergarments. Bialik finished the post by questioning the Hollywood concept of pushing looks before talent, expressing her belief that if female stars like Grande were supposed to have talent, they should not have to get people’s attention by showcasing their bodies instead of their skills.

This is not the first time the actress has been outspoken regarding her opposing views to things that much of the public sees as normal and everyday. Indeed, the California native has made somewhat of a name for herself over the years in terms of standing up for what she believes in. This summer, Bialik was part of the Israel Defense Force’s mission to counter rocket attacks on Hamas from Gaza. The actress supported the cause by way of multiple donations towards the obtaining of armored vests for combatants. She has also outwardly expressed her support of anti-vaccines, an opinion for which she was publicly scrutinized, with many individuals accusing her of going against the laws of science.

For many years now, Bialik has been a celebrity spokesperson for the Holistic Moms Network, in which she advocates for a woman’s right to carry, birth, and raise her child in any natural way she wishes. This includes such controversial practices as holistic medicine for children, attachment parenting, and all-natural childbirth and homeschooling. Bialik has used her television character personalities of Blossom and Amy Farrah-Fowler to host YouTube videos in which she questions Jewish ideology, an act that many viewers do not feel is entirely appropriate given her celebrity standing. She is also a founding member of the Shamayim V’Aretz Institute, a Jewish animal welfare organization that educates and trains individuals in the ethical treatment of animals. The latter philanthropic involvement relates directly to the actress’ lifestyle, as she is a devout vegan and has outwardly expressed her disdain for the consumption of animals in the past.

It remains to be seen what thoughts, if any, Ariana Grande has regarding Mayim Bialik’s recent comments regarding how she portrays herself in the public eye. Neither she nor her representatives have yet given any statement on the matter.

You forgot to mention her Ph.D. in neuroscience. She’s not just any old air-headed actress with nothing to back up what she says.
