One of the most iconic cartoon characters of all time, Donald Duck is being brought into the mix of numerous Disney Infinity cast members. Donald marks the second character out of the original big five characters (Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy) constructed by Walt Disney himself to become a playable avatar in Infinity.
Mickey Mouse was the first of the big five to make his way into Disney Infinity. The first edition of the game featured Mickey in his sorcerer’s apprentice outfit from the musical masterpiece Fantasia. The mouse also served as a guide in the original game’s introduction level and later became a playable character through the purchase of a Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey figure.
The aforementioned figure is reference to the many vinyl toys that are required to play Disney Infinity. Each character that is playable in the game has its very own physical figure that is purchased separately from the actual video game. The characters include classic Disney icons like Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, more modern characters from films like Frozen and Tangled, Pixar favorites such as Mike Wazowski and Lightning McQueen and even some of the most famous super heroes like Iron Man and Spider-Man from the Marvel universe.
Donald Duck’s figurine features him as the cranky old bird fans have grown to know and love. With his arms crossed and a frown on his face, Donald sports his iconic blue jacket and cap whilst standing on a base covered in lush green grass. The base of each Disney Infinity figure has a near field communication (NFC) chip that allows players to control of the virtual version of the figure in the game immediately once placed on a specified platform made to hold the toys.
Donald is apparently highly anticipated by fans as he is said to be a very practical character to use in Disney Infinity’s Toy Box mode. The Toy Box of Infinity is where players can express their ultimate creativity. One can choose from thousands of different objects to create a world of their own complete with different levels, enemies, friends and more, all of their own choosing. The mode lets users take the reigns as game designer without any limitations. Donald’s abilities and unique attributes lend themselves over very well to the open-world aspect of the Toy Box.
The duck will be able to use his anger to ward of his enemies. Players will get to see Donald lose his temper as his face turns bright red and he barrages through a pack of foes. The character will also have a special talent that allows him to spawn a great number of random objects ranging from a boot to a watermelon to use as a ranged weapon. There will also be a special power disc that will be available for purchase separately that allows Donald to don the duds he wears when playing the part of one of the Three Musketeers.
As Disney Infinity brings Donald Duck into the mix, fans will be anxious to see what classic character will show up next. The Donald figure will be available on Nov. 4 and the latest 2.0 edition of Disney Infinity is available now for all major video game consoles. Donald Duck’s announcement trailer can be viewed below.
