Grand Theft Auto V is one of the best-selling games of all time with the previous generation versions, all of the original game play and more are coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC in the coming months. Among that original offering was GTA Online, which allows players to take on the world with their custom-made character and amass a vast, meaningful fortune. With their latest patch, Rockstar Games is laying the groundwork for the extremely popular title to have a smooth transition between the console generations upon release.
Rockstar’s latest iteration of the popular, and often controversial, series took the gaming world by storm at release, selling over $1 billion worth of units in the first week alone. As of today, about a year after initial release, the game has sold over 31 million copies, the most retail sales of any game during that stretch. GTA Online, which was delayed initially, has kept many users coming back to the title after completing the lengthy story missions. Many people, however, complained of bugs that would wipe out their collections of cars among other in-game problems. The online component of Grand Theft Auto V has stabilized since launch with Rockstar even paying GTA Online currency to those that had to suffer through the early bumps.
Grand Theft Auto V received a new patch from Rockstar that will be making the journey to Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC, adding features and continuing to deal with bugs. Among the laundry list of updates, a full two-thirds of which is fixes of exploits, bugs and glitches, the Mission Creator is updated to include Last Team Standing missions, allowing users to create their own versions in that mode. Ten Last Team Standing missions were added along with new bulletproof helmets, 30 new clothing items, masks and two new weapons. A number of other shortcuts were added to the matchmaking “On-Call” feature that puts players in a queue for their chosen activity as well.
The next-generation entry of Grand Theft Auto V will come with additions that Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 users will not have access to. Many of the details released by Rockstar reveal some of the expected add-ons such as additional wildlife, traffic that is denser and cars that show enhanced damage, a new foliage system for the many bushes and trees and more. On the gameplay side, new weapons, vehicles and activities are said to be included in both single and multiplayer arenas. This new patch and the others will also migrate over with expanded multiplayer matches that will sustain up to 30 players on current generation consoles.
Grand Theft Auto V for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC will include pre-order bonuses that will affect GTA Online and the campaign. Any pre-ordered game will come with $1 million in the game’s currency with half in the owner’s online account and the other half in the single-player account. Any profile that completed the Prologue on the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 version and has a Rockstar Social Club will also be eligible for cross-generation transfers of saves and progressions as well as a list of other extras. Grand Theft Auto V will be out on Playstation 4 and Xbox One this Nov. 18 and releases on PC Jan. 27, 2015.
