According to officials, Police and law enforcement officers in the Denver, Colorado metro area are searching for a inmate who escaped the Jefferson County Detention Facility on Sunday night. Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, said that 32-year-old Travis Sandlin escaped from the maximum security pod of the Jefferson County Detention Facility.
The Detention Facility is located in Golden and was designed to house as many as 1,300 detainees in minimum to maximum security housing. The facility houses both male and female inmates in separate detention modules.
Before the escape Sunday, Sandlin was being held on a number of offenses including theft, burglary, motor vehicle theft, trespassing, and felon in possession of a hand gun. At this time, Kelley said that she was unable to discuss details of Sandlin’s escape.
