One of the most famous movie stars of all time, Johnny Depp, can now be seen sporting a blonde hair do. The actor has formerly been known to be a little on the eccentric side so it is not unlikely that the star would change something about himself so drastically.
The new color can be seen in the recently released Into the Woods featurette video. Depp plays the conniving Wolf in the film which is a movie musical directed by Rob Marshall. Although the role is a supporting character, the star will undoubtably make a very strong statement with his portrayal of the Wolf that will not be easily forgotten. Audiences will get to hear the singing talents of the actor once again, this being the first time since 2007’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Depp is loaded with a résumé of a great number diverse characters that showcase his impressive versatility as an actor. His skills as a singer have been demonstrated in the aforementioned Tim Burton film, Sweeney Todd, in which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Depp also received Oscar nods for his iconic portrayal of the witty Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and as the author of Peter Pan, Sir James Matthew Barrie in Finding Neverland. Perhaps Depp with receive more awards recognition for his role in Into the Woods.
The actor’s musical talents come into play rightfully so, as the performer originally wanted to pursue a career as a musician. Depp moved to Los Angeles at a young age to begin performing with members of a band whom he lived with. His pursuit lead to a struggling life as a musician even though he had a number of breaks including performing with the legendary Iggy Pop. Depp’s true break into Hollywood came with the world of acting, which seemed to have chose him rather than the other way around.
Seen as the heartthrob character in his early days of acting in the 80’s and 90’s, Depp has established himself now as one of the most pristine character actors in the business. Always leaning towards a sense of heightened reality, Depp never leaves an audience not entertained. Some of the actor’s early works include his turn as Officer Tom Hanson in the original 21 Jump Street TV series. Actors Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill have since done a recreation of the series in form of two full-length feature films. The actor’s transformation into character work is present in the likes of the aforementioned Pirates of the Caribbean films, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands and last year’s remake of The Lone Ranger.
Depp has always remained a mysterious figure in the public eye and never intentionally attempted to make himself visible to the world as many celebrities do. Perhaps the star was just sick of seeing the same color atop his head for the past twenty years.
As Johnny Depp sports his blonde hair, one must not forget the aspect of the man that truly matters and that is his talent. The star can next be seen in Into the Woods opening in theaters on Christmas Day.
