Legendary designer Oscar de la Renta has died at the age of 82, according to USA Today. Earlier this month, the New York Times reported that the fashion designer’s health was “precarious.”
De la Renta’s designs have been worn by political figures, celebrities and those who love fashion. He enjoyed a recent moment of fashion glory for designing the wedding dress worn by Amal Clooney in September.
The famous designer was born in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. He was raised along with six sisters in a middle-class family. He became a household name in the 1960s when Jacqueline Kennedy wore his designs, and launched his ready-to-wear label in New York in 1965.
