Victoria’s Secret PINK Hosts UNLV Campus Bash With Limits on October 29

According to the mass press release from Victoria’s Secret PINK the company was hosting the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ (UNLV) Campus Bash, which had certain limits placed on local and national press, on October 29, 2014. The “bash” was held at the Intramural Field of the university after the students “rocked the CRAZY” in a Campus Showdown with 98 other schools. The lingerie company put on the Pink Nation Crazy for Campus Bash with special guests Elsa Hook, Rachel Hilbert, DJ Irie and Iggy Azalea and the whole show began at 5 p.m.

Opportunities for the press to meet both the Victoria’s Secret models began at 4:30 p.m. with photographic sessions first and interviews later, where the two delightful young ladies agreed to continue posing for pictures with the press. Even going so far as allowing one old chap the chance to stand between the dazzlingly beautiful models for an Instagram picture tweeted to the Guardian Liberty Voice readers on the day.

The entire atmosphere at the UNLV Intramural Field was, on the part of the students attending, wonderfully upbeat and once the event was opened to the those who queued up for blocks to get in, the participants rushed to get at the various booths set up by Victoria’s Secret on the warm October 29 evening. Young women at the Bash easily outnumbered the fellows and all were very excited to see Elsa, Rachel, DJ Irie and Iggy Azalea. Quite a large number opted to get photographs taken in front of the PINK banner and a few were “jumping for joy” at the prospect of the free concert. There seemed to be no limits on the excitement level of all the attendees, even those who were not jumping up and down.

The press were out in force and there were a number of PINK NATION PRESS passes in evidence along with cameras of both the still and moving variety. Unfortunately not all passes were created equal as some reporters and photographers were not allowed either backstage, in front of the stage or given a decent spot to take and/or post their own photographs of the day’s, and evening’s, events. At first glance it appeared that older reporters and their “aging” photographers were not welcome at the event at all. After being personally escorted to the “press” area by a rep, certain members of the press (all of whom were older than the “allowed” press) were then escorted right back out again. This was while the two models, Elsa and Rachel, were “performing” onstage.

The show may have been about Iggy Azalea and the concert but the event was about the UNLV students celebrating their win and enjoying this free musical event staged by the lingerie giant.

The crowd enjoyed the pre-Iggy show put on by DJ Irie who cranked the audience up with his high level, enthusiastic and celebratory performance. In the build-up to the special guest star appearing, the students were all excited by what was going on and they were given the opportunity to go and take a “selfie” at the front of the stage. This was exciting for the crowd and one lovely young lady even asked the author to go up with her for a selfie.

Before the music began and the two Victoria’s Secret PINK models did their bit to help UNlV celebrate their winning the Campus Bash competition, the students enjoyed all the things on offer in the field without limits on October 29, 2014. Readers may notice that there are no pictures of Iggy Azalea performing. The short explanation is that while the reporter staked out a spot for hours, just outside the “press area,” at the last possible moment, security made him move to “make room” for wheelchairs. This could have been done at any time, but waiting until the last possible moment meant that no photo opportunity remained for anyone who did not belong to the “official” photographers for the event. This, despite press invites going out to all news sites. So, the Guardian Liberty Voice will close this article with a picture of the bouncy heart with the logo, “LOVE PINK” and a short slide show.
