Warner Bros. Entertainment Sticks With Lego and Superheroes

Warner Bros. Entertainment has released its production schedule for the next few years, and decided to stick with Lego and superheroes. Up until 2020, very few movies that do not revolve around these two ideas have been agreed on. It will make many excited, but at the same time many others will be disappointed.

One movie that will have many women happy about is a standalone female superhero movie. Wonder Woman is going to hit theaters in 2017, with Gal Gadot announced as the daughter of Zeus. She was already confirmed for the Superman V. Batman movie, and will also appear in the Justice League movie expected in 2018.

Along with Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. Entertainment has announced that there will be other DC comic movies. So far, two Justice League movies have been confirmed, and there will be other standalone movies in between them. Aquaman and The Flash are getting their own movies, suggesting that Warner Bros. is attempting to copy Marvel’s success with doing superhero movies.

Many will remember that Green Lantern was one of the first attempts, but it flopped. The company is not giving up on that superhero just yet. There will be another attempt at him in 2020. So far, there is no confirmation over who will play him, or whether it will be a reboot or continuation of Ryan Reynold’s character.

As well as superheroes, Warner Bros. Entertainment is also sticking with Lego for its movies. Three new Lego Movies have been announced considering the success of the original one. One of those incorporates superheroes too, as it is The Lego Batman Movie in 2017. This is likely due to the success of the Lego Batman character from the original movie last year. Ninjago will come first in 2016, though.

In 2018, The Lego Movie 2 is expected to be released. There is no news about the plot line. The good thing about the original Lego Movie is that it was all in the imagination of a child. A whole new world could be created, along with new characters. However, the original movie did end with the cliffhanger of the boy’s little sister’s toys “attacking” the world. This could continue for the second movie, as the brother and sister attempt to play together and fight.

The only movies that Warner Bros. Entertainment has announced that do not involve Lego or traditional superheroes are the trilogy Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and a super villain movie.

The Fantastic Beasts movies are set in the world of Harry Potter, but 70 years before the original series. Very little is known about the series yet, but it is about Newt Scamander and is based on the novella of the same name. The three movies will be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020. J.K. Rowling is currently working on the scripts for them.

The super villain movie is set to be released in 2016 and is called The Suicide Squad. It is about imprisoned super villains running government black ops missions. However, this is still in the same world as superheroes, as they and Lego are the focus that Warner Bros. Entertainment is sticking to.
