According to Iraqi officials ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghadadi was wounded in the airstrikes in Qaim on Saturday. The Associated Press was told by an intelligence officer for the Interior Ministry that he was hit while meeting with militants in the western Anbar province of Iraq. State TV has also reported that he was hurt.
Baghdadi, who has a $10 million bounty on his head by the U.S., is reported to have made only one public appearance to deliver a sermon in Mosul after IS declared the Islamic state to have been established within their territory. The group then demanded that the Muslim world pledge allegiance to the leader as the Caliph of the Islamic state.
It was previously unclear whether or not Baghadadi has been injured in the strikes that took place this weekend. The Pentagon has said that they do not have any information regarding Baghadadi or the attack. There has been no elaboration on how bad Baghadadi’s injuries are or how many others were hurt in the attacks.
