Less than a year after Beyoncé surprised her fans with her last album release it appears she may be ready to drop the second part of that recording in another surprise release. Just minutes before midnight EST Friday, December 13, 2013 the Queen dropped her self-titled album exclusively on iTunes without warning and the internet went wild with excitement.
This surprise album was deemed the Grammy Award-winning singer’s most ambitious album of her career. Beyoncé is a stunning visual album where she relates visual images, emotions and memories with music in a type of “love letter to her fans.” The Queen said, “Music is more than just what I hear” and decided she wanted to do something different which resulted in a visual album.
The album contains 31 tracks with 14 new songs and 17 videos. It also has many collaborations with artists such as her husband Jay Z, Pharrell Williams, Kelly Rowland, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Michelle Williams, Frank Ocean and last but not least, her daughter Blue Ivy. The album topped the Billboard 200 selling 617,000 copies in the first three days. By the 10th day, 991,000 copies had been purchased causing Beyoncé to become one of 2013’s biggest sellers almost instantly.
As seen in this screenshot of a “Release Confirmation” from Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, Beyoncé: Volume 2 is set to hit the airwaves on November 14. According to the image the album contains 11 tracks and collaborations with fellow artists such as Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake.
In addition to Volume 2, it has been reported Beyoncé: The Complete Edition will also go on sale November 14. The anticipated date for this four-disc hard copy to hit retail stores on November 25. Included in the set is believed to be a Mrs. Carter Show World Tour collection, 28 music videos and HBO’s On the Run Tour.
Beyoncé’s decision to drop an album unawares to her fans was a marketing genius. Fans and critics were astounded alike. In the digital age that currently exists there is almost no such thing as true secrecy. Albums and concepts are leaked online all the time, but Queen Bey’s camp successfully kept it under wraps.
Beyoncé took a risk by defying the norm. She continuously refuses to go with the flow and instead embrace new ideas and implement change. “Sasha Fierce” is always on the forefront of a new movement with her innovative ideas and courage to take chances. Mrs. Carter defied everything the music industry knows by dropping an album without promotion or pre-released singles.
The Drunk in Love singer has a loyal fan base who loves everything she stands for. They are die-hard, but not without reason. Beyoncé continues to be the epitome of a professional who delivers exceptional products whether it is an album, concert or movie. In addition to the element of surprise with her latest project, the album was flawless and enhanced with video material.
According to the “Release Confirmation” screenshot from Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, Beyoncé: Volume 2 is set to hit the airwaves on November 14. This is less than two weeks away; will it happen or will she have a change of plans since the “cat is out of the bag?” The fans will have to wait 11 days to see what Queen Bey will do, but whenever the album drops if it is anything like the last one the fans are in for a treat.
