Marvel’s New Superhero

Marvel

Marvel has done it again and created another hearing-impaired superhero. This time, however, the new hero is female and goes by the name Sapheara. It would appear that she is the female counterpart to the male hearing-impaired superhero, Blue Ear. Sapheara, according to the well-known comic book company, will be seen in a new comic called Sound Effects, teaming up with the legendary Iron Man and Blue Ear himself. This trio will be seen taking on the forces of evil as well as teaching kids who are hearing-impaired about the devices they wear. Blue Ear and Iron Man will show kids that even they can fight crime and with the help of Marvel’s new superhero, Sapheara, it will show them that they can be heroes, too.

Back in 2012, Blue Ear was created in order to show 4-year-old Anthony Smith that even some superheroes need hearing aids. In one article, it was said that Anthony had buried his hearing aids in the sand and refused to wear them because he said that some of his favorite superheroes did not wear them. Creating Blue Ear led little Anthony Smith to be something of an inspiration to many other kids around the world with the same rare hearing disorder. Partnering up with the Children’s Hearing Institute in New York, Marvel has now created the new hearing-impaired hero, Sapheara,

Sound Effects features Marvel’s new superhero shining alongside Iron Man and Blue Ear as they go through stories which vary in content from the issues of bullying and hearing-loss awareness and prevention to using a cochlear implant. The purpose of these stories is to help educate those with hearing loss while they are taken along on a fun-filled adventure with Sapheara, Blue Ear and Iron Man. Because of these two hearing-impaired heroes, both boys and girls with hearing problems from all over seem overjoyed at the fact that they now have someone to relate to in the superhero world. Not only does it look as though hearing-impaired children can relate to Marvel’s new superheroes, but it seems as though they now believe they can be heroes, too.

After creating Sapheara, Marvel’s new superhero, the question of what will they do next comes to mind. Even more new characters could come into light. More heroes, and maybe even villains, could come to the pages of the comics, having been inspired from people just like little Anthony. A few people have stated that it would be really interesting to see what Marvel could come up with if they branched out in their character base. Since there are many people in the world today with different abilities of their own, Marvel has a vast sea of inspiration to delve into. Perhaps the next physically-challenged superhero could be someone in a wheelchair, taking out crime from the streets of the city. The upcoming adventures of Sapheara and Blue Ear can only be known by Marvel Comics, but many believe they have taken a step in the right direction when it comes to creating new heroes for all people to enjoy nationwide.
