New Jersey was the scene of two shootings that became murders when the boy and man who were shot in separate incidents died due to their injuries. The two shootings are being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark police.
Around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, according to police authorities, Spruce Street in Newark was where the first of the two shootings occurred. The police who responded and arrived at the scene found Michael Robinson, 17, of Newark in pain after having suffered what appeared to be wounds caused by gunshot. About 30 minutes later Robinson was pronounced dead.
Then, at around 7:00 p.m., on South Ninth Street in Newark, New Jersey, officers responded to a call about a shooting that was in progress. When they arrived on the scene, they found two men who had both been shot by guns. After being transported to a local hospital, Kareem Z. Scantling of Newark, 33, died at the hospital from his wounds. The police have not yet released the name of the other man who was shot, and who is in critical condition.
