November 2013, saw Fast & Furious 7 star Paul Walker die in a fiery car crash with good friend Roger Rodas, who was driving the vehicle and today the trailer for the newest in the F&F franchise shows the late star in an awesome stunt 2:21 minutes into the trailer which has been uploaded onto the Internet on November 1, 2014. The world was shocked last year, when Walker was killed in an accident on November 30. Somewhat bizarrely the late star had been the subject of a death hoax the day before and on the same day that Paul’s agent had to reassure his fans that Walker was still alive, the same man then had to announce his client’s death.
Walker had been taking a break, along with his co-stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, et al, for Thanksgiving when he was killed. The 40 year old actor was attending his own charity event when friend and business partner Rodas suggested taking his new car, a Porsche Carrera GT, for a quick spin that ended in death for both men. The vehicle spun out of control on the way back to the Santa Clarita event and crashed into a tree and light post bursting into flames.
Paul Walker’s unexpected and shocking death spun off a multitude of death plot theories that included death by drug cartel, the Illuminati, and death threats from various other agencies, including the U.S. government. In the end, it was declared that the accident was the result of excess speed. Amidst all the media hype and fan grief, the filming of Fast & Furious 7 was halted while the film’s studio and director James Wan worked out how to finish the scenes that Paul still had left to accomplish.
It was reported that Paul Walker’s brother Cody, a former stunt performer, was being considered as a “stand-in” or double for Walker as the two men closely resembled each other. This option, along with the use of computer generated images would allow the film to be completed even without the real life presence of Paul Walker. The movie’s final scenes before entering the post production process were on hold until January 2014.
According to Variety, Cody Walker was not the only family member to help the filmmakers, brother Caleb was also recruited to step in and help finish scenes. All the ensemble cast of the Fast & Furious franchise have spoken of their love for the late fellow cast member. A man that Vin Diesel has continually referred to as part of the F & F family. Stars Rodriguez, Diesel and Gibson have all stated that Paul Walker was like a brother to them and each actor has grieved openly about his untimely and shocking death.
The trailer for Fast & Furious 7, released on November 1, 2014, shows Paul Walker taking part in an awesome stunt. These type of high adrenaline action sequences are what has helped to make this franchise so popular and went a long way to making all of the ensemble cast stars. Walker’s career skyrocketed after his portrayal of Brian O’Conner and his appearance in this trailer has such a bittersweet feel to it that fans of the star must fight the urge to not only fist pump the action clip, but also wipe a tear or two away at the thought of Walker’s death. Fast & Furious 7 is due to open April 3, 2015.
