Sleepy Hollow: Magnum Opus (Recap/Review)

Sleepy HollowDespite the fact that it has been a very long journey for Abbie and Ichabod, the Magnum Opus episode of Sleepy Hollow faced them with yet another challenge. They discover that there is a weapon, with which they can kill Moloch, however, they have to face some serious obstacles in order to retrieve this weapon.

Katrina contacts Ichabod through a mirror and she tells him that there is a weapon to defeat Moloch, but she does not give any more details, because she hears someone coming. It soon becomes pretty obvious that Henry allowed Katrina to contact her husband, because he can now see what Ichabod and Abbie are doing. The two witnesses finally manage to find something in Grace Dixon’s journal. They discover a clue, which is actually an anagram and when Ichabod rearranges the letters, it spells out Enoch’s Sword. According to Ichabod, Enoch is an ancient Hebrew text and Crane remembers that he saw the Book of Enoch somewhere in the archives. When he finds it, he tells Abbie there is the legend of Methuselah, who was given a sword with the power to kill any being on Earth. He used it to take down a thousand demons and if Abbie and Ichabod find it, they can use it to defeat Moloch. However, there is also a prophecy that says that they will die, unless they both know themselves completely.

After Henry sees in the mirror that Crane and Mills found a map that leads to the sword, he send the Headless Horseman to retrieve it first. The two witnesses are already there when the Horseman comes and attacks. However, sun comes up and the Headless Horseman leaves, which gives Abbie and Ichabod some extra time to find the sword. After they follow a clue, they discover a secret door that lead underground. So, they decide to go inside and when they come down the stairs, they see several statutes. However, Ichabod soon realizes that these are actually people, turned into stone, so he tells Abbie to run and not to look back. When they get out, Crane tells Abbie that this is a Gorgon, an ancient creature from Greek mythology that turns people into stone if they look into its eyes. So, Abbie comes up with a plan to wait for the Headless Horseman, lure him inside and he can then kill the Gorgon, because he has no head.

Their plan succeeds and the two witnesses find a special room, however, there are several swords and they have no idea which one is the Sword of Methuselah. Ichabod wants to buy Abbie some time, so he faces the Horseman and they start fighting. Well, Abbie pulls one of the swords, but suddenly, all swords turn into snakes. The Headless Horseman enters the room and he is just about to kill the two witnesses when he hears a horn. Henry is calling Moloch’s servants and this means that it is time for him to rise. The Headless Horseman leaves and Abbie and Ichabod decide to keep looking for that sword. Well, they manage to find it, however, Moloch is already gathering his army and according to Henry, the End of times is coming.

Meanwhile, Jenny is trying to get Irving across the Canadian border, however, there are checkpoints everywhere, so he decides to get out of the car and meet Jenny some place else. She tells him where to meet her, however, Irving leaves her a voice mail and he tells her that he will fight, but he will stay underground.

Magnum Opus was another great episode of Sleepy Hollow and things are getting really complicated. The two witnesses may have a weapon to defeat Moloch, but he is getting stronger and he is gathering his army to start the Apocalypse. Will Abbie and Ichabod manage to finally stop Moloch? Will Katrina stay with Henry or will she return to Ichabod? Will Irving become Moloch’s servant, since he has his soul? Hopefully, all this questions will be answered in the upcoming episodes of Sleepy Hollow.

No, Katrina did not mention that she knew of a weapon to kill Moloch. That was Ichabod. Katrina contribution was only the statement that she failed her mission to kill baby Moloch..Useless.
