Star Wars Fever: Episode VII Trailer and More

The Star Wars fever is running amuck with the release of the trailer for Episode VII: The Force Awakens coming out this weekend as well as many more forms of media. In addition to the highly anticipated film that is in the works, the galaxy far, far away is also producing a new TV show on Disney XD as well as a new video game.

Earlier today it was announced that select theaters around North America would be screening the first official trailer for Episode VII this Thanksgiving weekend. It has been reported that there are now thirty cinemas in the U.S. and Canada that will play host to this epic event. The footage will only be shown in these thirty theaters and will not make its way to other venues or online until some time later. Although it is presumed to be an actual trailer for the movie, what the content is exactly still remans unknown.

The film’s director J. J. Abrams took to Twitter to announce the release of the clip. The director tweeted a picture of a handwritten note he composed to his fans. The short note stated that viewers will get a “tiny” peek at what they have been working on regarding the new Star Wars film and made it known that it is only 88 seconds long. A small illustration of an iconic TIE fighter aircraft blowing something up is seen on the note as well, raising questions of whether or not the evil empire will make an appearance in The Force Awakens.

In addition to the hype of the major motion picture, the wonderful world of Disney has begun to showcase their latest show on the Disney XD channel titled Star Wars Rebels. The show is animated, reflecting similar 3D visuals that were used in the other Star Wars TV series, The Clone Wars. The show features a very talented cast of stars and voiceover artists. Freddie Prinze, Jr. is among the group of actors, voicing the principal character of Kanan Jarrus alongside Vanessa Marshall as the alien twi’lek Hera Syndulla. David Oyelowo who is receiving Oscar buzz for his portrayal of Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma voices one of the primary villains, Agent Kallus. The villain camp is rounded out by Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter saga, as The Inquisitor.

LucasArts has known to produce very well-received video games centered around the famed galactic universe. One of the most popular of games from the Star Wars world is the Knights of the Old Republic series. The series launched in 2003 and has since created a massive online multiplayer game titled simply as The Old Republic. It has just recently been abuzz the gaming community that the latest expansion pack of the online game will feature the primary anti-hero from the original 2003 title, Revan. The latest expansion is called The Shadow of Revan and will feature the famed sith lord/jedi master as the main focal point of the new game’s storyline, enlightening players on things left unknown about Revan’s past.

It seems as if the Star Wars fever is only getting started with the release of the Episode VII trailer plus the many more mediums the iconic saga has influenced. The trailer can be seen in the select theaters Nov. 28-30, Star Wars Rebels can be viewed on Disney XD on Mondays at 9/8C and The Shadow of Revan expansion pack will be available on Dec. 9.
