Oprah and Nate Berkus Fix Iyanla’s House [Video]

Watch Oprah and Nate Berkus Fix Iyanla’s House

Oprah Winfrey has teamed up with Nate Berkus, famous interior designer, to transform Iyanla Vanzant’s house. Iyanla has done so many things to help others, outside of what viewers have seen on OWN’s Iyanla: Fix My Life, that her friend and mentor wanted to do something extraordinary for her. In a special episode airing tonight on OWN titled Oprah Prime: Iyanla I’ll Fix Your House Oprah allows the world to watch the special surprise and follow the documented transformation.

Iyanla often speaks of doing the work in order to heal the past. This is one life coach who teaches what she has lived. After enduring a series of obstacles in her own life including burying her daughter, losing her home, and her husband by way of divorce she did the work and has risen again. Iyanla recently bought a new home in Maryland which needed a lot of work, but it is hers and prior to the make-over she was happy with it.

Oprah felt with all Iyanla has done for so many, including herself, it would be her pleasure to help her sister-friend, as they affectionately call each other, fix up her home. She reached out to her friend Nate and the process began. Nate and the spiritual coach worked together in conjunction with Iyanla’s “vision book” to design the dream home Oprah felt she deserved.

The Fix My Life star and Oprah have had their share of drama, but after a season of separation these two have reconnected with a friendship that is stronger than ever. In the late 90s Iyanla was a regular guest on the Oprah Show dishing out tough love to guests. However, after more than a year of the transformation coach being a regular expectation every other Tuesday, suddenly their relationship came to an end.

This occurred around the time Iyanla told Oprah and the executives at Harpo Studios that she was ready for her own show. Oprah disagreed and felt more time was needed in order for the life coach to be groomed for greatness before taking on such a huge task. Iyanla at the time felt Oprah was stifling her gifts and parted ways with the famed talk show host. Soon after the break-up Iyanla signed on with another partner to host her own show titled, The Iyanla Show and as Oprah predicted the show was cancelled after just one season.

In February 2011, the two of them met face-to-face on the Oprah stage for the first time in over a decade. It was this platform that allowed the healing process of their broken relationship to begin. Through a series of exchanged opinions Oprah and Iyanla restored their friendship and have worked to strengthen the bond over the past few years.

Now the queen of coaching is back with her own show Iyanla: Fix My Life and has received raving reviews and a warm reception from her many fans. While helping guests on her show, she ends up helping multitudes of viewers who opt in to watch the coaching session her guest receives. During episodes of the show fans engage in “live” conversations around the globe via Twitter, which usually continue for hours after the episode has ended.

On tonight’s special viewing Nate and his team gut and redesign all floors of the 7,000 square foot home. After a few mishaps and numerous challenges the big reveal amazes Iyanla.  Prior to finding the house the talk show host now owns, Iyanla admitted she never thought she would own another house.   She found this house, fell in love with it and now to have someone support her in making it truly her own baffles her.

Tune in tonight on the OWN network to see the emotional unveiling as Oprah and Nate reveal the final results of the impressive makeover to Iyanla. The special television experience Oprah Prime: Iyanla I’ll Fix Your House will air Saturday, November 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
