The first ever American Country Countdown Awards was held Monday, December 15, on Fox in Nashville, and some of the best acts in country music today were nominated for various awards. The awards show was inspired by the American Country Countdown radio show. The hosts of the show were the duo of country music artists who make up Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley. To find out who the winners were tonight, read on!
Prior to when the American Country Countdown Awards show aired, one of the winners were announced. Various sources revealed that Kenny Chesney would receive the American Country Countdown Awards’ Groundbreaker Award. It is an award that is given to a country artist who consistently pushes the boundaries of what is possible in the genre, a performer who is an innovator and/or trailblazer.
Kenny Chesney is the only country music singer that was included in the list of Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years. He is, so far, the the biggest ticket seller of any country musical artist in the 21st century. Since 2002, Chesney has sold more than a million tickets to each of his 11 headlining tours. He has sold more than 30 million albums.
Statistics and radio airplay charts from November 1, 2013-October 31, 2014 were used to determine which country music performers were nominated for the awards. Mediabase, Big Champagne an Pollstar stats were used to determine who the Artist of the Year award would go to, based on which performer had the “largest audience reach.”
There were five male country music singers nominated for the American Country Countdown Awards Male Vocalist of the Year award. They were Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Randy Houser, and Luke Bryan. The winner of the award was Luke Bryan.
In the category of American Country Countdown Awards Female Vocalist of the Year, there were five female country music artists nominated for this first-ever award. They were Taylor Swift, Danielle Bradbery, Carrie Underwood, Cassadee Pope and Miranda Lambert. The award was presented to Miranda Lambert.
Another one of the big awards of the night that were presented on the American Country Countdown Awards show was for Group/Duo of the Year. As with the other awards presented so far, there were five acts nominated. They were The Band Perry, the Zac Brown Band, the Eli Young Band, Lady Antebellum and Florida Georgia Line. The duo who won this award were the hosts, Florida Georgia Line.
Another major award of the evening that was presented on Fox’s American Country Countdown Awards show was for Song of the Year. Nominated for this big award were Jason Aldean’s hit, When She Says Baby; Cole Swindell’s popular song, Chillin’ It; Brett Eldredge’s smash, Beat of the Music; Jerrod Niemann’s hot song, Drink To That All Night; and, the Justin Moore hit, Lettin’ the Night Roll. The song that won was Beat of the Music by Brett Eldredge.
In the category of American Country Countdown Awards Collaboration of the Year award, the five nominees were the Brantley Gilbert song featuring Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett, Small Town Throwdown; This Is How We Roll, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line’s This Is How We Roll; the collaboration by Blake Shelton (featuring Gwen Sebastian), My Eyes; the song by Keith Urban (featuring Miranda Lambert), We Were Us; and, the collaboration by Tim McGraw (featuring Faith Hill), Meanwhile Back At Mama’s. Once again, the winners of the award were the hosts, Florida Georgia Line’s hit collaboration with Luke Bryan, This Is How We Roll.
The five albums that were nominated for the American Country Countdown Awards Album of the Year were Miranda Lambert’s album, Platinum; Crash My Party, by Luke Bryan; Brantley Gilbert’s Just as I Am; Florida Georgia Line’s Here’s to the Good Times; and, Eric Church’s album, The Outsiders. The album that won was Eric Church’s big hit, The Outsiders.
In the category of American Country Countdown Awards Breakthrough Artist of the Year award, the five country musical artists nominated were Cole Swindell, Brett Eldredge, Kip Moore, Thomas Rhett and Tyler Farr. The musical artist who was presented with this award was Kip Moore.
There were also five songs nominated on the American Country Countdown Awards in the category of Digital Song of the Year were Burnin’ It Down, by Jason Aldean; Florida Georgia Line (featuring Luke Bryan) with This Is How We Roll; Florida Georgia Line’s Dirt; and, two songs by Luke Bryan, Play It Again and Drink a Beer. Florida Georgia Line (featuring Luke Bryan) with This Is How We Roll won this huge award.
One of the biggest awards of the American Country Countdown Awards show was for the Artist of the Year. The five musical artists/groups who were nominated were Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan. The winner of this prestigious debut award was Jason Aldean.
Another important award presented on the American Country Countdown Awards show was the Nash Icon Award one. It went to a very deserving country music artist, the hugely talented performer and actress, Reba McEntire.
The debut of the American Country Countdown Awards show on Fox was much anticipated by country music fans. It marked a terrific introduction to this annual awards show, and featured some of today’s biggest acts and country music artists. Please leave any comments below!
