Grammy Awards 2015 nominations were announced on Friday, and, once again, the field is stacked with the hottest performers, songs and videos of the 2014. The nominations were broadcast on the social media site Twitter on Friday. The Album of the Year nominations were announced on the CBS special broadcast, A Very Grammy Christmas, which also showcased some memorable performances by singers like Sam Smith, Adam Levine and Ariana Grande, among others. The 57th annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 (8:00-11:30 PM, live ET/delayed PT) at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will be broadcast on CBS.
This year, Beyoncé, 33, now with with 52 nominations, became the most-nominated artist in Grammy history. Leading all of the performing artists nominated with six nominations each were Pharrell Williams, Beyoncé and Sam Smith. They are all among the artists nominated for Album of the Year. Beyoncé has been nominated for Beyoncé, while Pharrell received his nomination for GIRL and Sam Smith got the nod for his album, In the Lonely Hour. The other albums nominated for Best Album of the Year were Beck’s Morning Phase, and Ed Sheeran’s X.
Only one person was nominated for five Grammy Awards, recording engineer Tom Coyne. He received the nominations for his work with the musical artists Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and Beyoncé.
There were an amazing 10 performers who were nominated in four categories. They were Jack White, Iggy Azalea, Usher, Beck, Sia, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Jay Z, Gordon Goodwin, Drake.
In the Grammy Awards category of Record of the Year, five singles were nominated. They were Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass; Iggy Azalea’s hit, Fancy (featuring Charli XCX); Taylor Swift’s mega-hit, Shake It Off; Sia’s Chandelier; and, Sam Smith’s marvelous song, Stay With Me (Darkchild version).
Five songs were nominated for the Grammy Awards 2015 Song of the Year. The five songs were Hozier’s Take Me to Church; Sam Smith’s Stay with Me (Darkchild Version); Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass; Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off; and, Sia’s hit, Chandelier.
Six musical artists received Grammy Awards nominations for Best New Artist of the Year. They were Iggy Azalea, Damienn Jones, Bastille, Sam Smith, Brandy Clark and HAIM.
Then, in the Grammy Awards category of Best Pop Solo Performance, there were also five musical artists and songs nominated. There was Pharrell Williams with his live performance of Happy; Taylor Swift’s monster hit, Shake It Off; John Legend singing All of Me, live; Sam Smith’s Stay With Me; and, once again, Sia’s Chandelier.
In the Grammy Awards 2105 category of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, the five songs and acts nominated were Dark Horse by Katy Perry (featuring Juicy J); Fancy by Iggy Azalea (featuring Charli XCX); Bang Bang by the trio of Ariana Grande, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj; Coldplay’s hit, A Sky Full of Stars; and, A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera performing Say Something.
The other Grammy Awards 2015 categories that this article will mention are ones for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Dance/Electronic Album, Best Rock Album, Best Rap Album, and Best Country Album.
There were six musical artists who received Grammy Awards nominations in the category of Best Pop Vocal Album. The albums and artists were Bangerz by Miley Cyrus, In the Lonely Hour by Sam Smith, X by Ed Sheeran, Ghost Stories by Coldplay, Prism by Katy Perry, and My Everything by Ariana Grande.
Then, in the category of Grammy Awards for Best Dance/Electronic Album, there were five albums nominated. The five albums were Damage Control by Mat Zo, Syro by Aphex Twin, Do It Again by Röyksopp & Robyn, Little Dragon’s Nabuma Rubberband, and While (1<2) by deadmau5.
There were five albums that were nominated in the Grammy Awards 2015 category of Best Rock Album. Those albums were Songs of Innocence by U2, Ryan Adams by Ryan Adams, Hypnotic Eye by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Morning Phase by Beck, and Turn Blue by The Black Keys.
In the Grammy Awards category of Best Rap Album, there were six albums nominated. Blacc Hollywood by Wiz Khalifa was one of them, and the other five were The New Classic by Iggy Azalea, Oxymoron by Schoolboy Q, Because The Internet by Childish Gambino, The Marshall Mathers LP2 by Eminem, and Nobody’s Smiling by Common.
Finally, in the Grammy Awards 2015 category of Best Country Album, there were five albums that were nominated. They were The Way I’m Livin’ by Lee Ann Womack, Riser by Dierks Bentley, Platinum by Miranda Lambert, 12 Stories by Brandy Clark, and The Outsiders by Eric Church.
