Jennifer Lawrence is an actress who is fairly new to the scene, but it seems as if the star is constantly in the Hollywood limelight. Ever since the release of the record-breaking Hunger Games in 2012, the actress has been on a mega-high of fame and fortune.
Just recently, Lawrence was announced as the highest-grossing actor, male or female, of the entire year of 2014. The star brought in $1.4 Billion to box offices around the world with two major blockbuster motion pictures this year. The first blockbuster of this calendar year was the latest in the X-Men franchise, Days of Future Past. The second is that of the third installment in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay – Part 1. It is anticipated that the total income Lawrence has garnered will increase, as the latter film still has some time before its run in the movie theaters comes to a close.
Chris Pratt managed to place second for the highest-grossing actor garnering $1.2 billion, owing his success to the widely popular Marvel sci-fi flick Guardians of the Galaxy. Scarlett Johansson came in third place as Mark Wahlberg and Chris Evans followed in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Lawrence also made headlines this Christmas Eve when she payed a visit to a local children’s hospital in her hometown of Louisville, KY. The star visited Kosair Children’s hospital to visit many young patients. Her appearance was unannounced and the surprise of her arrival made the day of a great many of the patients. The hospital took to Twitter to announce their thank you to the actress and photos of the star’s visit were also posted on Twitter as well as Reddit.
The star also managed to stir up some more attention in her hometown as she attended a Louisville Cardinals basketball game. Lawrence was seen throwing the “L” signal for Louisville in the stands as the crowd began to cheer and it has also been reported that she was filmed chanting the iconic “C-A-R-D-S” cheer alongside a number of her friends. Unfortunately the Cardinals lost to their opponents, the Kentucky Wildcats, by a slight eight points. Louisville fanatics’ disappointment in their team’s losing was undoubtably brightened by Lawrence’s attendance.
The star has most definitely risen to the public eye from her commercial success in the aforementioned blockbuster franchises, but Lawrence has also been critically acclaimed for her more articulate and awards-worthy work. The actress won an Oscar for Best Leading Actress for her role in David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook at only 22 years old and has been nominated two other times for the award for her work in Winter’s Bone and American Hustle. The actress is also moving forward into the world of producing. Her first film in which she will produce and hold more creative control is entitled The Glass Castle.
Jennifer Lawrence simply cannot seem to stay out of the Hollywood limelight and it seems as if the public agrees that that is for good reason. The star is on a streak that seems as if it can only go up from here.
