It was the Tuesday before Christmas, and joining host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon were comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the members of One Direction. The musical guest of the night was Big Sean with E-40. Also, Jimmy Fallon continued the “12 Days of Christmas Sweaters” by giving away a Christmas sweater to a lucky audience member, and during the “Tonight Show Stocking Stuffer,” segment, Fallon gave away a cool Christmas present to everybody in the audience.
Jimmy Fallon welcomed the audience to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Then, Fallon commenced his nightly monologue, cracking jokes about people and news in the headlines of today. A few jokes from the monologue follow, somewhat paraphrased.
“Here’s what people are talking about,” Fallon said. “Another poll came out about the 2016 presidential election It’s bad news for Joe Biden. Only 2 percent of the people want him to be the president. Half of those are my writing staff.”
Continuing, Fallon said “One of my favorite jobs is working around Rockefeller Center during the holiday season.” He then showed people wiping out while ice skating at the Rockefeller Center Ice Skating rink.
After making a couple more jokes about the author of Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret writing a new novel for the first time in 16 years, Fallon announced the guests for the show, Jerry Seinfeld, One Direction and Big Sean with E-40.
Then, he gave away the last sweater before Christmas, one with Santa on it, electric lights, and even a hood. Fallon called out seat number 406, then ran to where the lucky winner was, Gabby from Massachusetts, and gave her the Christmas sweater. He said “With this on, you’ll kind of blend in, and nobody will know you’re there.”
Then, Fallon said “Christmas is only two days away I’m in the spirit of giving right now. It’s time for ‘Tonight Show Stocking Stuffers!’ You picked the right night to be here — we saved the biggest gift for last!”
The gift was — “too big,”and as Fallon said, “too good.” He said “Tonight’s gift is a — 50 ” TV from Vizio! Fallon and Santa Claus danced about the stage, rejoicing. After that, the Tonight Show went to a commercial break.
When The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon came back, Fallon introduced his first guest, Jerry Seinfeld. He is the host of the Internet show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Seinfeld did a stand-up comedy bit, joking about the 50″ TV the audience members won, and what they will now do with their new TVs and how they will get rid of their old TVs. “I don’t like too many things,” Seinfeld said. “I’m a thrower-outer. My wife, of course, is the opposite. She’s a saver. Every Styrofoam peanut is numbered and organized. I threw out our wedding photos. I admit, now, that I was wrong.
“You’re all excited when you first get something, right? Time goes by, and maybe you find you’re not that keen about drying out fruit. You put your purchase in the closet. From the closet, it goes into the garage. The word ‘garage,’ seems to be a form of the word ‘garbage.’ Ebay is the greatest thing in human culture. Why don’t we mail our garbage to someone else?”
“My point is simple: Everything is thrown out in the end. We are thrown out in the end. When you go, take…your…crap…with you,” Jerry Seinfeld said, concluding his routine. Then, the Tonight Show went to another commercial break.
Back from the break, Jimmy Fallon interviewed Jerry Seinfeld. “Nobody shines up a guest like Jimmy Fallon,” Seinfeld said. “You go out of here looking like polished silver. I fell fantastic!”
Fallon asked Seinfeld about this kids, and Jerry congratulated Jimmy Fallon on the birth of his second daughter.
Seinfeld talked about one of his kids loving to play with Legos. He said that Lego has convinced kids to build things, to do what the said was “hard work.”
Mentioning going out to restaurants, Seinfeld said “we all lie when we go out to restaurants. No one says that the chicken is dry. Then, one day, the restaurant closes, and the owner says, ‘Why do you think we closed? Was the chicken too dry?'”
Jerry presented Fallon with a plaque with Fallon’s photo on it, and his, and said that he spent the longest segment on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee ever with Fallon — 30 minutes.
“You do the only impression of me that I really like,” Jerry told Fallon.
“I couldn’t get all of the great stuff on the show,” Seinfeld said. “It’s at least a two-parter. He told the story of how he first got the Tonight Show.”
“At the end of the episode, you gave me an envelope full of cash,” Jimmy Fallon said.
“All I get is $503 dollars and a warm handshake,” Seinfeld said. “When you first get paid money to be funny, it’s surreal. You think ‘I guess this has some value.’ It’s surreal.” Fallon showed a clip from his appearance on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee that was pretty funny; then, the Tonight Show headed to another commercial break.
“We’re joined right now by the most successful pop group in history — put your hands together for One Direction!” Fallon said. The members of One Direction took their seats, and Fallon said they were on one of the very first shows. Harry Styles’ hair looks quite a bit different now than it did then. Fallon asked them how different Christmas was in England compared to here. One of the band members talked about “making puddings.”
“You do yams with marshmallows on top. We don’t do that in England,” another one of the band members said.
“Niall, please stand up and say what you’re thankful for this Christmas,” Fallon said.
“I’m thankful for this moment, and being here with you and everyone in the band,” Niall Horan answered.
They all sat on the floor and Jimmy did an English accent, talking about “making pudding for three or four hours.” He did a Liverpool sort of accent, like how Ringo Starr sounds. Fallon said “I want to say, I’m thankful for you guys. I love you guys.” The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon then went to yet another commercial break.
After the commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced his musical guest of the evening, Big Sean with E-40. They sang I Don’t F— With You. The song was very rhythmic and Big Sean jammed out, rapping rapid-fire — E-40 was super-fast, as well. It was a great performance — and, except for Jimmy Fallon thanking all of his guests after more commercials, that was the end of this episode.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was a terrific way to spend a part of the eve before Christmas Eve. Fallon and his guest like Jerry Seinfeld, One Direction and Big Sean with E-40 were all at their entertaining bestand Jimmy Fallon concluded his “12 Days of Christmas Sweaters” and his “Tonight Show Stocking Stuffers” segments during this Tuesday night episode.
