Domino’s Considers Bondage Advertisement

Domino'sIn a new advertisement campaign leaked online, it appears that Domino’s has considered jumping on the Fifty Shades of Grey bandwagon and featuring bondage to promote their latest pizza creation. The campaign from one of the world’s largest pizza chains was part of a promotion for their new Sriracha pizza, and was apparently pitched and created by an agency in Israel for one of the independent franchises there.

The Domino’s ad, which features a tongue chained up with a ball gag and wearing a leather outfit, with sex toys and gear in the background; also says that while the person eating the pizza will suffer, they will still enjoy every moment of the suffering. While this advertisement allegedly appeared in print in Israel; Tim McIntyre, a spokesman for the pizza company told People Magazine that while this is a real image for the company it was never actually run in any fashion. McIntyre said that this particular campaign for Domino’s has never officially been run in print nor anywhere else.

While it would appear that Domino’s was considering using bondage in their advertisements to illustrate the spicy heat of their new Sriracha pizza, McIntyre says that this is not the case; and that this was in actuality an inappropriate, not funny and ill-advised image. The spokesman basically calls the entire thing very stupid. In fact, he said that when he first saw the image he thought that it was some kind of a joke. He believed at first that this was a parody being created as a lark to go along with the premiere of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, which hits theaters in February.

The only reason that this particular ad has surfaced is that the image was apparently leaked on the internet. McIntyre is saying that the image is being presented as an advertising campaign that actually did run in some fashion in the Israel media, a rumor that the spokesman says is completely false.

According to US Weekly; following the leak of the image and its subsequent ability to make headline news, the pizza company apparently went on to their Twitter account and posted a message saying that the ad was, in fact, a fake. In addition to that, one of Domino’s tweets seems to indicate that they know who is responsible and they are being dealt with accordingly. This response was met with some humor from followers; in fact one of Domino’s followers tweeted back, asking if the plan was to punish the person in sexy ways.

Whether the advertisement was a fake or, as the Domino’s spokesman said, just an idea that was pitched and never run in any capacity; it would appear that even the pizza companies are considering bondage and other aspects of the Fifty Shades of Grey wave, in an effort to make sales. McIntyre ended his comments on the matter by saying he was shaking his head at the entire thing; and as many other people weigh-in on the matter, it appears that he is not the only one.
