A police officer from Fort Worth, Texas was injured in an exchange of gunfire with a suspect which left that man dead. The incident took place in Southwest Fort Worth, on Hildring Drive on the 4800 block. Initial reports from witnesses indicate that the officer who was shot received a wound to the stomach, and was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in an ambulance. The name of the officer has not been released, but he is expected to survive his injuries.
Little information has been released about the shootings. No indication has been given about how the altercation began, or what the suspect was believed to have been doing to prompt a police response. The name of the deceased suspect has also not been released. There is a continuing investigation of the incident, and further details are expected as that continues. It is not known whether there was anyone else involved, but there are no reports of any other injuries related to this shooting.
