All of the 88 Miss Universe Pageant 2014 contestants are beautiful, some of the most attractive women in the world, but which five of the 88 have probably the best chances of being crowned Miss Universe this 63rd year of the annual beauty competition? What follows are the Top Five contestants and why they have perhaps the best chances to become this year’s Miss Universe winner!
The Miss Universe Pageant 2014 will be hosted by Today show’s co-anchor, Natalie Morales, and Thomas Roberts, the anchor of MSNBC Live. It will be broadcast from Florida International University in Doral-Miami, Florida, airing Sunday, January 25 (8-11 p.m. ET) on NBC. The musical performers will include Nick Jonas and Prince Royce, as well as the Grammy nominated singer-songwriter, Gavin DeGraw. DeGraw will be performing two songs off of his latest album, Finest Hour: The Best of Gavin DeGraw, Finest Hour and Fire.
The contestants have come from all around the world to compete for the title of Miss Universe Pageant 2014. They will be judged in three categories, swimsuit, evening gown and interview. At the conclusion of the pageant, the current Miss Universe 2013, Gabriela Isler from Venezuala, will crown the winner.
The judges for the Miss Universe Pageant 2014 are DeSean Jackson, Kristin Cavallari, Nina Garcia, William Levy, Emilio Estefan, Louise Roe, Lisa Vanderpump, Rob Dyrdek, Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton and Manny Pacquiao. According to the Rappler site, having Manny Pacquiao as one of the judges could be one of several “indicators,” that the Miss Universe Pageant 2014 winner will be Mary Jean Lastimosa, from the Philipines.
Also, MJ Lastimosa, as she is known as, was one of five of the Miss Universe Pageant 2014 contestants who were invited to the VIP reception hosted by the Russian American Chamber of South Florida, according to the Rappler article. Not only that, but Lastimosa was one of only three of the contestants who took part in Q&A sessions with fans on the pageant’s official Facebook page. The other two contestants who took part in the sessions were Miss Myanmar, and Miss Venezuela.
USA’s Nia Shanchez, Miss Nevada, is definitely in the Top Five, as she has done well in the preliminaries and the pageant is being held in the United States, so she will be a home favorite. Sanchez looked great in the prelims in her red serpentine gown, and her national costume also looked pretty great, though there are a lot of neat-looking national costumes this year.
Many fans think this might be the year that Miss Mexico will win. Mexico’s Josselyn Garciglia was a favorite in the preliminary Evening Gown round, and she always seems to have the perfect hairstyle for whatever she is wearing at the time. The ponytail she had during the swimsuit round expressed her confidence to the judges and everyone else who was viewing, and her national costume was also among the best of them all.
Also on most people’s lists of who should be included in the Top Five contestants is Miss Jamaica, Kaci Fennell. Like Miss USA, she wore a red gown in the prelims, and looked very alluring and sultry. She is also a very good public speaker, which is a plus, and she excels in the interview portion of pageants.
Last but not least in anyone’s consideration of the Top Five list of potential Miss Universe Pageant 2014 winners, must be Miss Columbia, Paulina Vega. She arrived extremely well-prepared for the competition, with a portfolio of beautiful official photos. She also made sure that she was very visible at most of the preliminary activities and she was one of the most-photographed contestants. Vega was stunning in her evening gown and looked terrific in her swimsuit, so she cannot be counted out as being the one to walk away with the crown this year.
Will one of these five stunningly beautiful young ladies be named Miss Universe 2014? That remains to be seen, but they are five of the 88 contestants that have perhaps better chances than the rest to be crowned Miss Universe 2014 by Miss Universe 2013, Gabriela Isler. Tune in tonight to watch the competition and then check back here to read about who won!
