There are at least 20 dead and 50 injured in a blast that is reported to have been a suicide bombing at an imambargah in Shikarpur, Pakistan. The bomber reportedly entered the Karbala Maula Imambargah during Friday prayer while there were more than 80 people inside. The roof of the building collapsed on those caught in the blast, burying many. As soon as the bombing occurred, dozens of local residents rushed to the scene to attempt to dig people out and rescue as many as possible.
The scene is still being sifted through, and authorities are combing to make sure that they did not miss anyone who may have been inside when the bomb went off. Because of the rapid influx of patients for the hospital and a decided lack of trained medical personnel, help was recruited from nearby towns by government officials in Pakistan. With the lack of local ambulances, people were rushed off for treatment on motorcycles, rickshaws, and any other mode of transportation which could be found. Updated numbers could see a rise in the casualty count, but hospital officials are determined not to lose any more if at all possible.
