On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Friday, February 27, 2015, host Jimmy Fallon got his game on with one of the stars of The Hunger Games, as his first guest of the evening was actor Josh Hutcherson. Also, Jimmy Fallon welcomed two actors who star in Broad City to the Tonight Show, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, and he played the game Truth or Truth with them. Then, the final guest of the episode was celebrity chef, Michael Schlow. Jimmy Fallon also did his always funny weekly “Thank You Notes,” comedy segment,”thanking” people or things for having added something to his life, and Josh played Beer Hockey with Fallon later in the episode.
Jimmy Fallon walked out onto the stage as the Tonight Show began, and the audience gave him a standing ovation. He said that the audience was “hot,” and then he began his monologue, including in it topics like the dress taht everybody thinks is either gold and white or black and blue, saying “Should I go with the black and blue tie, or with the gold and white one?”
Jimmy Fallon then joked about the “net neutrality” rules that have gone into effect. As he was talking, one of the members of the house band, The Roots, was thinking out loud. Tariq was thinking he would rather be “looking at a cat with its head stuck in a Kleenex box.” Then, Tariq answered a question Fallon asked, and Fallon’s thoughts were heard.
Jimmy Fallon then mentioned that marijuana was legalized in Washington, D.C. He said he was going to show an “unedited,” photo. It was of Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a Cat in the Hat style of hat on her head.
The Roots played Jimmy Fallon to his desk, and he said “We have a great show tonight! Peta from The Hunger Games, Josh Hutcherson, is here!” He also said that Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer from Broad City would be guests, and he said that celeb chef, Michael Schlow, had brought along a cooler of snow to make snow cocktails later.
Jimmy Fallon then began his weekly “Thank You Notes” comedy segment. Fallon and Steve Higgins got James Posey, the keyboard player, to crack up and laugh. “Thank you, Alaska, for becoming the third state to legalize marijuana, and giving a whole new meaning to the term ‘Baked Alaska.'”
Another of Fallon’s notes was “Thank you, Netflix, for releasing this season of House of Cards, ensuring that this weekend, the only words I’ll be uttering is ‘Let’s watch one more.” “Thank you, kale, for being an edible lufa.”
Jimmy Fallon continued on, saying “Thank you, Cleveland Browns, for debuting a new logo that’s virtually identical to your old logo, but still not brown.” One of the last “Thank You Notes” that Jimmy Fallon wrote was “Thank you, the guy who lassoed an escaped llama from the back of a pickup truck, for somehow being the least interesting part of that story.” Then, the Tonight Show went to a commercial break.
When the Tonight Show came back from the break, Jimmy Fallon introduced The Hunger Games actor, Josh Hutcherson. Fallon and Josh gave each other a hug, and Fallon asked Josh “Quickly, what color is the dress?”
“Jimmy, it’s black and blue,” Josh said.
“That’s not black and blue,” Jimmy Fallon said.
Fallon asked Josh about the last time he was on the show, and Josh said that he did not even have his own Twitter password. He said that “Somebody tweets for me. It’s too much responsibility,” he said.
Jimmy Fallon then showed a couple of photos of when Josh was a boy, and he won a sort of beauty contest for boys. “My parents didn’t force me,” he said. He said that he sang Boot Scoot Boogie for the Talent part of the competition.
Then, Josh talked about Ron Howard’s Project Imagination. He said that people sent in ideas for stories, and he will act in a short film based on the suggestions of one of the people. He and Ron would look over the ideas. April will be the last month that ideas are allowed to be submitted.
Jimmy Fallon showed what had happened the last time that they had both played Beer Hockey. It ended with a controversial call, so Fallon challenged him to a new game. Part of the game involved drinking shots of tequila. This time around, it was not an Air Hockey game, but one with players controlled by each person by using rods. Josh was the first person to score. He drank a victory shot, and Jimmy Fallon also drank a shot. After that, the show headed to another commercial break.
The second guests of the Tonight Show were two of the stars and creators of Broad City, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. The show is produced by Amy Poehler. They came onstage, dancing to the Reggae song that The Roots played.
“Thank you for dancing onto the stage! That’s the way to do it! Super-duper funny. When did you get started doing comedy?” Jimmy Fallon asked.
Ilana talked about her dad encouraging her. Ilana said her dad let her use his camera and they made their basement into a studio. Abbi told Jimmy Fallon that she would make announcements at her high school in a different voice. She said that her teachers in eighth grade “let me do it the whole year.”
Abbi told Fallon “We play Abbi and Ilana on the show.” Jimmy Fallon said that he really liked the “Bed, Bath and Beyond,” bit that they had done on one episode. They said that they had only been to it a “couple of times,” but they knew the names of all of the employees. Abbi mentioned that they had both gone into a Bed, Bath and Beyond recently, and nobody there recognized them. Jimmy Fallon asked them if they would play a game with him after the next commercial break, and they agreed.
Back on the Tonight Show after another commercial break, Jimmy Fallon said he considered his guests to be “honest people.” He and and his guests Abbi and Ilana played the game Truth Or Truth. “What will it be, Jimmy?” Abbi asked. “Truth, or truth? Have you, Jimmy, ever stolen anything?”
“No…just a couple of TVs,” Jimmy Fallon answered.
“What is your favorite song to make love to?” Fallon asked Abbi.
“O Holy Night,” Abbi replied. “Preferably sang by Susan Boyle.”
Ilana asked “Truth or truth: What is your biggest fear?’
“Truth,” Jimmy Fallon replied. “Having to share an elevator with that guy from the Six Flags commercial.”
Fallon then asked Ilana “What is the worst thing that you ever did?”
Ilana answered “Throwing some loose deli meat at a cop car.”
Jimmy Fallon asked them both “Truth or truth: What do you consider to be a perfect date?” They both answered in unison: “October eighth.”
Following yet another commercial break, when the Tonight Show came back, Jimmy Fallon introduced the final guest of the episode, celebrity chef Michael Schlow. Chef Schlow had brought a cooler of snow with him from Boston, and he made Snowy Negrons for Jimmy Fallon, bandleader Questlove, and himself. They all drank the cocktails while Chef Schlow prepared a quick meal with the help of Fallon and Questlove.
Chef Schlow mentioned a story of when he and Jimmy Fallon were in Ireland together, and Fallon got thrown out of a bar. He said “Everybody yelled, ‘Throw him out, throw him out!” He said that he laid on the ground, and he was thrown out. Then, he was let back in the bar to continue drinking. Chef Schlow also made an ice cream dessert that looked really delicious to top off the meal.
Jimmy Fallon thanked his guests, and that concluded this Friday, February 27 episode of the Tonight Show. Fallon got his game on this episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, playing Beer Hockey with Josh Hutcherson of The Hunger Games franchise and also playing another game, Truth or Truth, with the stars of Broad City, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. Celebrity chef Michael Schlow then made Jimmy Fallon and Questlove cocktails from snow he had toted there from Boston to conclude the episode.
