There are so many Whitney Houston fans in the world, as well as impersonators who adore anything Whitney Houston. It is, however, a problem when the offspring of a celebrity wants to follow in their parent’s negative footsteps. It is like Russian roulette when it comes to the success of the child of a mega-star. There are so many positive lessons that can be learned from the life of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who has had a what could have been called “The Cinderella Life.” Unfortunately, the “Lime Light” comes with a long list of disclaimers.
There is only the probability of what is put into a child’s character, should guide what comes out. As a parent, the golden rule is to be the positive role model so that there is no surprise as to what the person becomes. It is a fact that if there were no filters of the parent’s behavior, the child will look upon this as acceptable. Whitney Houston was to Bobbi Kristina everything she aspired to be as a singer. She adored her mother, and hoped life would imitate art, instead, life appears to be imitating a tragedy novel.
February 11 marks the devastating passing of Whitney Houston, seven-time Grammy winner, at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2012. The fact that her only daughter is on life support in an Atlanta hospital awaiting her fate is a sad parallel. The family had to make the unsettling decision to take Whitney Houston off life support at midnight on this date.
Not everyone can say that they had a legendary singer as a mother and mentor. The parallel is that both were found in a bathtub unresponsive and brain-dead as a result of having been denied oxygen. Now, there is a decision hanging in the balance in what may be a final heartbreaking choice to shut down a young life, Bobbi Kristina, 21, much the same as with her mother, Whitney Houston, at 47.
As the ongoing saga reveals, there is tension in the family on all sides. Mr. Bobby Brown is not embracing Nick Gordon as his daughter’s husband, and Bobbi Kristina’s aunt has had a restraining order against him since last year. Cissy Houston has never embraced the idea as well. Now, the police are investigating the possibilities of domestic violence and drugs playing a part in this story, which parallels her mother’s life.
Unfortunately, Bobbi Kristina’s condition has not changed. The family held a candlelight vigil at the Riverdale Towne Center, close to Atlanta, Georgia. The timing was just two days before the dreaded anniversary of Houston’s death in hopes to send prayers of recovery to her only daughter. A few hundred people were in attendance.
There are numerous parallels in the life of this mother and daughter.
Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina Brown were raised in the music industry, as well as Bobby Brown. Whitney Houston and Bobby Kristina were the first to admit that they had tried drugs, and had struggled with addiction. They supported each other in the music business, although Whitney Houston was one of the most beloved song masters in the entire universe. The unmatched music icon was world-renowned. Bobbi Kristina only aspired to have a fraction of this success, but was on her way to fulfill her dream.
Houston and Brown both loved men who were controversial, both within the family and in the public eye. Houston and Brown both unconditionally loved their men. The family in both instances tried to discourage the relationships, prompting many family quarrels. They were both under scrutiny for their weight and looks, and pressured to live up to other social expectations.
Taking into account all of the parallels, none of them were unrepairable, except for the last days of their lives. Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina both found in a bathtub, unresponsive, leaving their loved ones inconsolable.
It has been over three weeks since Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in her bath tub, and no official update has been given on her medical status. However there has been the removal from the ventilator, but she is still on life support, and has had a tracheostomy, which is typical for the condition that she is in. The family is hopeful and accepting all positive prayer.
