iHeartRadio Music Awards Celebrates Renegades

iHeartRadioMusical renegades will be featured in the iHeartRadio Music Awards set to air on NBC March 29, but real adventurers will have to wait until March 30 to find out if they won top prizes in a contest to celebrate renegades. Thousands have enter the Renegade Life contest in hopes of garnering enough votes to be named a top winner.

The contest is a joint collaboration of iHeartRadio, Bravo and Jeep. Participants are asked to showcase their adventuresome spirit by either posting to Instagram or Twitter that shows them doing something unique. This is the first time for the competition and only fans vote for the winners. The contest is closed with the favorites are up for viewing on the NBC page. A 2015 Jeep Renegade, a trip to Los Angeles and other prizes go to the top winner.

As far and the musical renegade award, which is a staple with the iHeartRadio Music Awards, there are five nominees: Brantley Gilbert, Charli XCX, Hozier, Iggy Azalea and Meghan Trainor. All have built reputations of being outside the box, making them unique. Gilbert is known for his honest, country music with bad boy intermingled. His hit song Just As I Am is well-known for its radio play. Charli XCX, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, is stirring the charts with songs like Superlove and Break the Rules. The British singer debuted in 2012 and has been popping labels ever since. Andrew Hozier-Byrne, the real name for Hozier, is an Irish singer-songwriter gaining attention with songs Take Me to the Church and From Eden.

A lot of publicity is being placed on Iggy Azalea, a newcomer, in this years iHeartRadio Music Awards because she is nominated in several categories. Azalea is nominated for “Artist of the Year,” “Best New Artist,” and the “Renegade Award.” Azalea is known for her song Fancy. Azalea joins Ariana Grande, Luke Bryan, Sam Smith and Taylor Swift in vying for top honor of “Artist of the Year.”

Meghan Trainor, 20, who took over airwaves with All About That Bass, may be new to the general public but she is a music veteran. Trainor started performing at six years old and also writes and produces music. She was in the band Island Fusion and has also performed in a jazz band. The singer was signed into the Nashville scene in high school and has written for numerous other artists, including country and R & B groups.

The awards show will also pay special honors to singer Justin Timberlake by presenting him with the innovator award. The innovator awards is the most prestigious award of the event.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards will have Jamie Foxx and its host when it airs at 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central time from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Artists honored in the show are picked by music fans and the iHeartRadio Chart. iHeartRadio has grown significantly with the onset of the digital age and increased use of its app.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards show on Sunday is expected to top last year’s with many nominees, including the celebrated renegades, on the schedule to perform. The show is unique in that it will be broadcasted simultaneously across multiple platforms including radio stations and in digital formats.
