On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Thursday, March 19, 2015, Fallon’s guests were comedian and actor Ben Stiller, from While We’re Young, and Tim Gunn. Later on the Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon and Ben Stiller conducted an Emotional Interview with each other, and revealed quite a lot about themselves. The musical guest on the Tonight Show was Rixton.
Jimmy Fallon began the Tonight Show with his monologue, wryly commenting and joking about topics in the news. Fallon said “It’s a hot show tonight, man!”
Jimmy Fallon joked about President Obama wearing a fitness monitor. He quipped, “Not to be outdone, Joe Biden wore a necklace with his name, address, and allergy record on it.” Fallon also joked about Kim Jung-Un’s upcoming visit to Russia, and a lawmaker who introduced a bill to legalize pot for medical reasons for pets. Fallon showed a clip of one of the staff, Doug Kearney, being told that Microsoft was getting rid of Internet Explorer. He was ticked off, and swung at his computer with a baseball bat.
Jimmy Fallon said that “the Environmental Protection Agency is planning to keep track of how long people take showers.” “Motel 6,” Fallon said, “is already doin’ it.”
The Roots played Jimmy Fallon to his desk, and he talked about upcoming guests. Then, he said that Ben Stiller from While We’re Young will be one of tonight’s guests. Tim Gunn will be the second guest, and the musical guest, Rixton, will perform.
Fallon did his weekly Hashtag comedy bit. The hashtag Fallon started was #IOnceOverheard. It was a trending topic within 20 minutes. “I once overheard my principal in middleschool saying ‘I hate this job!’ over the school intercom.” Another one that Fallon read off was “I once heard a man in the stall next to me saying ‘Please, not now.'” Yet another was “After telling my son to finish his dinner, I overheard him whispering ‘I’m Jeremiah — I can do this.'”
One that Jimmy Fallon read next he said was overheard at a woman’s local pizza place. “Fitness? Yeah, I practice fitness. I can fitness pizza into my mouth!'” a couple of others were “I once overheard two guys saying, ‘I don’t think they’re right handed or left handed — they’re dogs.'” and “In a public bathroom, I overheard a kid saying to his dad ‘I need to go Number Three.”
After that, Jimmy Fallon said that they were going to do what they have never done before, give away a car, a Lexus. He said to “go onto Vine and make a rap song of 6 seconds about why you deserve the car.” The winner will get a brand new Lexus.
Host Jimmy Fallon introduced the first guest of the show, Ben Stiller. Fallon asked him about “the Paris fashion show.” Ben Stiller said that “was actually there.” He talked a bit about Zoolander 2.
Fallon asked Ben Stiller about when he was on Running Wild with Bear Grylls. He said that he should have expected how intense the experience would be, but he said it was tougher than he had thought it would be. Jimmy Fallon showed some photos of Ben Stiller on the program.
“Are you an adventurous guy?” Fallon asked.
“I’m a semi-adventurous guy,” Stiller replied. He talked about a friend of his who was adventurous, and talked Stiller into doing things like going whitewater kayaking in an inflatable kayak. He said that there were wakes that came at them from the ferries and other boats.
Jimmy Fallon asked him about the plot of While We’re Young. He and Naomi Watts are in their 40s in the movie. Fallon showed a clip from it. A doctor tells him in the clip that he “has arthritis” in his right knee. Stiller’s character is floored by that, not wanting to believe that he is at the point in his life when he could get arthritis.
After a commercial break, Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, thanked Ben Stiller for being on the show. Then, he wanted to see how “emotional” that Ben Stiller could get, so he conducted an Emotional Interview, with him. First, they both had to be “Overly Polite.” Then, they were both supposed to be “A Little Too Nosy.”
“Can’t Remember Each Other’s Names,” was another way they were supposed to act. Another was “Ben Thinks Jimmy Is a Spy.” Fallon did his Russian accent. Then, they were supposed to be “Jealous of Each Other.” After that, was “Extreme Sexual Tenion.” They talked about each other’s “button noses.” Jimmy Fallon said that “Tim Gunn will be on after the break,” and the Tonight Show headed to another commercial break.
When the Tonight Show came back on, host Jimmy Fallon introduced the second guest of the episode, Tim Gunn, host of Project Runway. He has a new book out, called Tim Gunn: The Natty Professor.
“I have to tell you, it’s such a thrill to be here with you. I feel like I’m in Late Night Heaven,” Tim Gunn said.
“Are you wearing the suit that you are wearing on the cover of the book?” Fallon asked. “This might be a first on the Tonight Show!”
Tim Gunn related a story about two people walking on the street, discussing Tim Gunn’s suit. He said a woman told her husband “Honey, you should wear a suit like that man!” Tim Gunn said that the man replied “You mean that expletive?”
One “Fashion Don’t” Tim Gunn mentioned is the bare midriff look. Tim Gunn does not approve of the look at all. He and Fallon talked about other fashion “Don’ts” and Fallon said he really liked the book. Fallon said “You say very nice things about me in the book, and I appreciate it.” Then, the Tonight Show went to yet another commercial break.
“Our next guest, Rixton, will be performing Hotel Ceiling from their album, Let the Road,” Jimmy Fallon stated. It is the band’s debut album. Rixton is currently touring with Ariana Grande, who will be on the Tonight Show tomorrow night. Hotel Ceiling is a pretty cool-sounding song, and Rixton is one of the hottest groups around.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Thursday, March 19, was a great way to end the day, getting entertained and trying to forget all of today’s busted “March Madness” brackets. Ben Stiller talked with host, Jimmy Fallon, about his movie While We’re Young, and played a game, of sorts, called Emotional Interview. Then, Fallon talked fashion with Project Runway host, Tim Gunn. Rixton’s cool performance of Hotel Ceiling ended the Tonight Show.
