The Tonight Show this Thursday, March 26, was a great warm-up for Friday’s show, and the weekend ahead, as host Jimmy Fallon welcomed his guests, actor Alan Cumming and actress Carey Mulligan. It was an entertaining, fun-filled episode. The musical guest of the Tonight Show was singer Ludacris, who just this last December got married to his girlfriend, Eudoxie.

Host Jimmy Fallon joked about topics from today’s news in his humorous monologue. Fallon mentioned that Senator Ted Cruz raised over $1 million in the first 48 hours after he announced his candidacy for the president in 2016. Radio Shack then decided to announce it candidacy.

“Get this — yesterday, Jeb Bush criticized Obama’s policies and suggested that he uses ‘schoolyard antics.’ Obama said ‘Is this about Biden’s swing set?'”

Then, Jimmy Fallon joked about the Mars Rover taking 11 years to go 25 miles, and he did his comedy bit, “Just the Facts.” He stated “facts,” about various types of alcohol, like “number of fingers I’m holding up: 13,” for Guinness Stout. For the Coors Light label, Fallon said “Water: 100 percent.”

The house band, The Roots, played Fallon to his desk, and he said that people could buy Hashtag the Panda plush toys at the Today Show gift shop. He said that Alan Cumming is in both The Good Wife and the Broadway musical, Cabaret. Actress Carey Mulligan will be the second guest, and Fallon said “We tried to get Ridiculous, but he’s on tour for the next three years.” Instead, they got singer, Ludacris, as the show’s musical guest.

Jimmy Fallon asked viewers to send in videos of their kids making funny faces. He said that next week, he would try re-creating some of the funny faces sent in.

Jimmy Fallon also said that five wax figures of himself were made by Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, and will be on display in five different Madame Tussauds Wax Museums across America. In a clip, he started to sing, and other voices chimed in, his wax figures harmonizing with him in a very cool video. He woke up, in bed, saying “That was just a dream,” but looking around, he saw the five wax figures in bed with him.

After a commercial break, Jimmy Fallon did his weekly Hashtag bit. This week, it was #HowIQuit. Some examples were “Before I left, I set my bosses’ computer so that every time he typed in his name, it would say “I like ponies.” Another one was “I worked at Wendy’s as a high school senior and left to visit a college. My boss said before I left, ‘It’s either college or Wendy’s.'”

Yet another one that Jimmy Fallon read was “A guy dramatically slammed his name tag down on the desk and slammed his head into a glass door on his way out.” A couple of others were “Told my boss ‘I’m quitting to pursue my dream of not working here,'” and “I sent an edible arrangement to my boss that said ‘I quit. Eat me.'”

The Tonight Show went to a commercial break, and when it returned, Jimmy Fallon introduced his first guest, Tony Award-winning actor Alan Cumming. “Thank you for coming! We love you so much!” Fallon told Alan.

They chatted about the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary After Party, and all of the stars who were there. Jimmy Fallon asked various singers to come onto the stage, and it was reportedly a legendary party, with the likes of Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney singing, not to mention Prince.

“You were just amazing in Cabaret,” Fallon said. Alan said he has played the role in “my 20s, 30s, 40s, and Spoiler Alert — I’m now 50.”

They said that the second guest, Carey Mulligan, will also be in a Broadway play, and Helen Mirren. Alan related a story about Helen telling him that she “hated the Crocs he was wearing.” He said “Yes, I sometimes hate things, too — but, I use my Inside Voice.”

A few weeks later, he said that he saw Helen wearing Crocs, and she said now that she tried them on, she thought that they were comfortable. She told him she “really loved them.”

Jimmy Fallon’s second guest on the Tonight Show was Academy Award-nominated actress Carey Mulligan. She is currently in the Broadway play Skylight and she will be in the upcoming movie, Far From the Madding Crowd. Carey said that she saw Alan in Cabaret in London when she was 14, and she saw him this year, on Broadway, with her mom. She said “We went to Hooters. I didn’t know what it was — I thought it would be fun, because I like owls.”

“It’s your second time on Broadway?” Fallon asked her.

“Yes,” she replied. They talked about her being one of the stars of Skylight. She said that she cooked spaghetti during each night of the play. Then, Fallon talked to her about Far From the Madding Crowd. He said it was a period piece. Carey told him it is based on the Thomas Hardy novel of the same name. Fallon showed a clip from the movie. It will open May 3rd.

He rocked the audience, and showed that he is still one of the most impressive singers of today. Jimmy Fallon said that Ludaversal could be pre-ordered now.

The Tonight Show was Ludacris-ly good tonight, with Fallon’s fantastic guests, Alan Cumming from The Good Wife and Cabaret and actress Carey Mulligan, who is currently starring in the Broadway play by David Hare, Skylight.
