Kentucky, ranked number one, beat number three ranked Notre Dame, and has secured its place in the final four. The score was 68-66.
The first half was tied for the teams at 31 points each. Kentucky pulled away in the second having scored 37 points to Notre Dame’s 35 points. Kentucky will join Wisconsin, who beat Arizona in a 85-78 win. Another contender for the Final Four contest is Michigan State University. The Spartans are playing Louisville on Sunday. The Michigan team is considered a comeback effort because it lost to Minnesota, and then Wisconsin within a span of days.
The 2015 push in March madness included 68 teams competing in the single-elimination contest. The Final Four will be held in Indianapolis, April 4 and April 6 at the Lucas Oil Stadium. While the action is on the court, some athletic officials are concerned about the new Religious Freedom Restoration act passed recently in Indiana. Sports star Charles Barkley has called for the NCAA to move the Final Four competition, and the NCAA states it supports inclusive environments.
Meanwhile, Kentucky fans are celebrating making it into the elite Final Four. Sports experts are predicting a strong competition.
