‘The Cross, The Celebration and The Controversy’ This Easter at Wave Church

EasterOn Easter Sunday Christians across the globe join in celebration of the resurrection Jesus Christ. Many churches choose to refer to the holiday as Resurrection Day because of its commercialization, but it is typically the most attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches. Wave Church, located in Virginia Beach, is preparing for Easter weekend with The Cross, The Celebration and The Controversy which begins Good Friday. This mixture of incredible productions is a weekend of celebrations to honor the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

The Cross starts the weekend and will take place on Good Friday. The festivities continue on Easter Sunday morning with The Celebration and transitions on Sunday evening with The Controversy. The hope of Pastors Steve and Sharon Kelly is that people from all walks of life would come to celebrate what Jesus has done for all humanity through an incredible Easter weekend with options for every age. Pastor Steve said:

We are very excited to share our Easter services with the community. Our approach is one with the vision that many people would come to church to experience an excellent production and in turn hear the message of Jesus and all that He has done for us.

Wave Church has always been community focused organization where people matter. Their fresh approach to this traditional holiday offers a breath of fresh air for those looking for a local church to become a part of. Wave is a growing church that is changing their world one life at a time. It is not only a beacon within the Hampton Roads community, but the network of Wave Churches continue to impact and influence lives nationally and internationally.

Friday Night’s Good Friday service, The Cross, will have a traditional approach and communion will be offered. Easter Sunday morning, The Celebration, will be a medley of inspirational teaching from Pastor Steve Kelly along with incredible musical features by the Wave Church Worship and Creative Arts Team. Easter Sunday night, The Controversy, will take a look at the aftermath of Jesus’ life and death and how the course of history has never before been so influenced by one man’s life.

A musically talented team, state-of-the-art venue and celebration of the life of Jesus all comes to fruition on this coming weekend. In addition to this creative presentation, many activities will take place for the children at Wave Church including a petting zoo, available before and after each morning service, and an incredible helicopter Easter egg drop with 12,000 candy filled eggs after the 6 p.m. service. As always, this will truly be a fun-filled event for the entire family.

This musical production and Easter message will be offered at the Great Neck campus, located at 1000 N. Great Neck Road, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. as well as their Seaboard Road campus, located at 2655 Seaboard Road, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. These locations are both in Virginia Beach, Virginia, however many other Wave Church campuses across the United States will also hold Easter services. For times and locations please visit their website at www.wavechurch.com.

As opposed to a one-day observance, Easter is an entire season within the Christian church year. In most churches the season begins with Lent, which is a time of reflection and penance representing the 40 days that Jesus spent alone in the wilderness before starting his ministry. In addition to the religious significance of Easter, there is also a commercial side, as can been seen by the host of marshmallow chicks and jelly beans featured in stores during the season. Wave Church would love for everyone to end this wonderful season by partaking in their weekend of incredible productions known as The Cross, The Celebration and The Controversy as they gracefully merge both observations.
