Acer, Inc., the Taiwanese computer maker, announced April 24 that it is breaking into the Smartphone business in the United States. Acer will be selling its Liquid M220 smartphone in Microsoft stores. This is the first Liquid smartphone that runs using the Windows 8.1 operating system. The Liquid M220 smartphone also comes with a free upgrade to Windows 10.
The Liquid M220 has the essential features that makes it simple, easy to use and affordable. This smartphone’s display is a four inch WVGA 233 pixels per inch display that delivers crystal images with front and rear cameras. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core 1.2GHz mobile processor with 1GM of memory, a 1300mAh battery and a 5- megapixel autofocus camera.
Acer is teaming up with Microsoft to to sell their Liquid smartphones in the United States. Vice president of Acer America Smartphone Business Group, Hugo Hernandez says that the Liquid M220 has an amazing track record, as they are working with over 20 telecommunications companies in 55 different countries. He says the company is very well-prepared to expand their mobile products in the world’s leading, most influential markets. Customers that are budget-conscious will enjoy the value and how easy the Liquid smartphones are to use.
The vice president of worldwide OEM marketing for Microsoft, said that he is glad to see Acer expanding its Windows devices to include smartphones in the United States. Microsoft is delighted to contribute the common Windows experience to joint customers through Acer’s devices such as laptops, tablets and now the Liquid M220.
The company has been congratulated by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. on the launch of the Liquid M220, Acer’s first smartphone in the United States. Vice president of product management, at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., Reiner Klement said that the Liquid M220 has a sleek design that is pleasing to the eye, and a strong feature-set which value shoppers will enjoy.
Microsoft Stores and Microsoftstore.com will be selling the Liquid M220 for $79.99 in the United States, starting in June. The president of Acer’s smartphone division, S.T. Liew said in March, that the company is hoping to sell 5-6 million smartphones this year, compared to almost 3 million in 2014 and 1.5 million in 2013. The company will also be launching new products just in time for students to get ready to return to school.
The company is preparing for the international launch of its new, top of the line, smartphone, the Liquid X2. The Liquid X2 comes with a large 4000Ah battery. The Liquid X2 has a 5.5 inch display and full HD or it could possibly have a UHD display. All that would be revealed about the inner workings of the smartphone is that it has a 64-bit processor, however the clock-speed, make and cores are being kept quiet. It does have a 13 MP camera that also shoots HD video. The front camera is also 13 MP for the ultimate selfie picture. The Liquid X2 is the last of Acer’s set ambitions for 2015
Acer has put in room for three SIM cards so users can have one for work, one for personal use and one for whatever the user prefers. It has Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11ac as well. It will come in four different colors including, red, white, brown and blue and they all have a glossy finish. This is a great way for the company to enter the U.S. smartphone business.
