At a Universal Studios panel at CinemaCon 2015 on Thursday April 23 in Las Vegas, an announcement was made by Vin Diesel, who stated the new installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, Furious 8, will be released on April 14, 2017. During the panel, Universal showcased their upcoming line of movies and stated the Fast & Furious franchise is one of their most successful undertakings.
In 2015, Furious 7 became the first ever Universal film to gross over one billion dollars worldwide during its first release. The media company also confirmed that they will take on another installment of the series.
The announcement for Furious 8 was initially made by Diesel, one of the main actors in the series. “We’re gonna make the best you’ve ever seen,” he emphatically stated.
Rumors have been buzzing around the entertainment industry regarding Furious 8, considering they will be continuing the series without Paul Walker, who died in a car crash in 2013. Diesel talked about this rumor of the new movie on Jimmy Kimmel Live before the release of Furious 7.
