Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has now closed its ice cream shops and is also recalling of its products due to a possible listeria contamination. John Lowe, the chief executive officer for Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, stated the company has decided to recall all ice cream products that are on the shelves of retailers and grocery stores. He also said the company is also closing all of their scoop shops until they are absolutely sure all items are contamination-free.
Signs regarding the reason for the closing are on the doors of all ice cream shops. As well, a post on the Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams online store says all products are “temporarily unavailable.” The Nebraska Department of Agriculture originally found listeria in a sample taken from the ice cream.
Lowe stated, “We have called in experts to help us find the root cause.” He is currently working with their suppliers to determine is the listeria came from their ingredients in the factory.
